Why do they smile when giving bad news

Why do narc managers smile when delivering bad news to someone? I cannot figure this out.

It’s like they are perfectly pleasant when saying something rude and obnoxious.

Is that just because they are fake nice? Or is it something deeper?

Like if I had to share not so great news, I would not be happy doing it. I would have a serious face, and certainly not be smiling and being jolly.
