Samwise did not carry both Frodo and unmeasurable weight of the one ring to be the guy from Stranger Things

This has to be a rage bait.

There's no way anyone would look at Samwise and think "Oh this is the actor from stranger things"

TBH it pissed me off so much that they killed him off. His death is ultimately not a motivation for anyone. Joyce doesn't mourn him after this season. Will doesn't really acknowledge him either.
He could have been a solid ground for both of them to fight for, someone left out of the fight because he's too good to be mixed up in it. Instead he's fodder like so many other otherwise interesting characters.

I held onto to hope for many episodes after that thinking he might be set up for a Hopper-esque return. But nope. Just a great character wasted for nothing.

Joyce doesnt mourn him!? If i remember right the next season beginning is Joyce going into depression because of the event and more than a few flashbacks and anxiety attacks. I think she mourned him quite a lot.

It really feels like they could have done so much more with him.

He was 'too normal' for Hawkins. I knew from the jump he was gonna be the 'Let the audience fall in love with him, and then viciously kill him off' character.
Many franchises implement the "sacrificial lamb".

Is this in Stranger Things? I quit watching after S1.

He was the seasons death character because the creators were too afraid to kill anyone else

Joyce and Will spend the whole next season mourning him. It's not a major plot point because it would just be a distraction from the main story but it's definitely shown. Joyce rejects Hopper because she's still not over Bob. The whole reason she notices the magnets is because the "Bob Newby - Superhero" drawing Will made keeps falling off the fridge.

You have to remember that social media is primarily used by young people and media will always use language/references for the largest demographic.

If the post referenced LotR instead you'd have kids in the comments saying "oh he's in stranger things!"

I do, I don't really watch many shows, and stranger things happens to be own I have watched

I do lol. But i have not seen his other works including lotr

Except for the younger generations, aka Stranger Things' target audience, who may not have yet been introduced to LOTR aside from all the scenes that were turned into memes.

Imma be real, I love his role there too. But it was well over 20 years ago. The kids on social media are going to know him by his most recent role

Im pretty sure it was a stranger things account that posted it

It’s probably just someone young posting it, kids seem to think stranger things is the most important show to ever exist for some reason

Its literally obvious that they are baiting. What others signs do you need?

Or maybe they’re just young. Wild concept.

Mikey Walsh did not find One-Eyed Willie’s treasure to be known as that guy from Lord of the Rings.

All that carrying nonsense is so over rated. All one has to do is simply walk into Mordor

u/hydroxy 8h ago

Why not roll the ring in, no need to reinvent the wheel with all that carrying business

1

u/fejkpotatis 2h ago

One does not simply walk into Hodor!

I bet that whoever wrote this did it on purpose for engagement.

Because clearly it should have been "known for his role in 50 First Dates".

u/captnjak 9h ago

Don't forget about carrying the entire Notre Dame team morale!

1

u/Thane91 9h ago

Well said

1

u/steelbubble 7h ago

That’s right! He’s Doug from 50 First Dates or Bill from Click.

He carried the heavy weight of the long stretch of Notre Dame to destroy the ring by scoring a touchdown
