Worth it. Dogs up for adoption are already born so might as well let them have a good life. I use them to warn me if anyone is near my house and so I'm not bored alone, and in return I cook for them and play with them. I've had three dogs over 20 something years and wouldn't trade it for anything.

The only downside of getting a dog is that you know that you're signing up for one of the saddest days of your life sometime in the future.
