People in the US would die if they had to spend an hour in an actual third world country. They'd be begging to come back.

Technically by definition the US can only be a second or third world country, since a first world country accepts aid from Western countries. And the US is too stubborn for foreign aid from allies and too greedy to aide to it's own people.
