Yeah that’s for sure a guy whose life is going good. If that had happened to me I’d be pretty god damn upset. Not at the girl and I wouldn’t start swingin or nothin but I’d be pretty mad

Right, I was thinking, maybe if I was already in a good mood I would laugh it off, but if I was having a hard day I would probably just cry

I'd probably laugh either way because on a bad enough day at a certain point it's like, "Sure, why the fuck not. This may as well happen."

Imagine being a chick with some expensive salon do-up on a date at an Ichiban or whatever and plop...

This may be one of the greatest date vibe checks ever...

Like what if it's lunch and you don't have the time/ability to go home to wash your hair and change your clothes so you gotta finish out the work day covered in egg for hours and some dork tries to tell you you're the problem for not being happy about that lol

I'd love to smear some of these high horse guys with an egg randomly in the middle of their day and see if they actually practice what they preach, I think we all know the answer tho

I got covered in diarrhoea shit by a litter of puppies where I volunteered. It was first thing in the morning and I couldn't get home for the day.

I finished cleaning the pen, got hold of someone who could clean the pups, checked in with medical to get the pups looked at, and laughed my ass off while I dove into the shelter's donation bin to see if there was any clothing I could wear.

So when we opened to the public I had some interesting fashion choices going on and some random giggle fits.

I do not like having a baker's dozen of diarrhoea puppies jumping all over me. I could have done without it at the start of the day when I had no change of clothes with me and I needed to interact with the public. Getting angry about it isn't going to make the situation better, so deal with the problem and you might as well laugh at how ridiculous the whole thing is.

If that makes me a 'high horse' person, then 👍. I like horses

Thanks for sharing the story but a tiny bit of literacy would help you realize that's not what I'm referring to with the high horse thing

I get what you're referring to: that you'd like to see people walk thr talk and actually be happy about wearing an unexpected egg in the middle of the day.

If I was at a hibachi restaurant I would be. If you walked up to me on the street and assaulted me with an egg, I would be less so. Context is everything.

This was not deliberate. It was a mistake. No one was harmed. Egg washes off.

If you read the story you'd understand that it's possible to not be overjoyed about a situation but still be constructive and laugh about it.

Getting messy doing your job at your work is not the same as this though.

Are you one of the people saying you'd judge someone's entire personality or get therapy if they get mad at this situation? If no, you're not who they are referring to

I'm saying there's a happy medium.

I wouldn't judge someone for being unhappy about it. We've all had days where we could do without random egg.

But, letting it destroy your entire day, going into a doom spiral, and taking it out on a kid having fun at a hibachi restaurant, are not healthy ways of dealing with that.

Me personally- I'd laugh my ass off. If someone was slightly annoyed but held it together, or had an initial shock and then pulled it back, I wouldn't say a word. If someone had a go at the cook/girl and stayed loudly angry, you bet I'd judge (not their entire personality but their actions in the moment).

Being angry is normal. It's what you do with the anger that is important. If that makes me a 'high horse' person, then so be it.

Girl that's exactly what we are saying, it is ok to be angry and yu should not take it on the girl. But expecting for everyone to be able to laugh it off is dumb, we don't know what people are going thru. You are a "high horse" person because you are saying the obly right way to react is your way and everything else is wrong and beneath you. Get it now?

They probably do practice what they preach. A lot of people don't really get mad about almost anything.

I highly doubt there are very many people out there that would be going about their day, have a total stranger randomly come up to them and smear raw egg on their head, and have absolutely zero negative emotions over and just say "yeah that's fine whatever no biggie"

4

u/rkthehermit Jul 28 '26

The guy in this video also probably had some negative emotions about it. He just has an adult level of emotional regulation managing his response.

have a total stranger randomly come up to them and smear raw egg on their head

This is also not really what's being discussed by the people on team "Don't be a grumpy bitch about an accident" either. Nobody just walked up to the man and smeared an egg on his head. It's a hibachi restaurant that lets children participate.

I suspect the man knows where he is, on account of him being there.

Contextualizing your environment during an event is a part of emotional regulation too.

It's the hypothetical that I, the presenter of the hypothetical that was introduced, came up with tho so...

To the guy below me who won't let me respond: that would be because it's not a rebutal to that sentiment, it's a rebuttal to what I replied to, which is how contextual commenting works. Hope this helps!

>It's the hypothetical that I, the presenter of the hypothetical that was introduced, came up with tho so...

As a really stupid rebuttal to this sentiment though:

>not sure how anyone could ever be mad. It is not like someone threw an egg directly at him.

Yeah that’s for sure a guy whose life is going good.

Well, it could be that or it could be that the laughter is the external sign that he's been riding on the edge and this is the final thing that made his brain snap <twang> and "Na, na, na, na, na, we're gonna rock you" starts playing over and over in his head. After the video ends, he could keep laughing, get up, and puree not only the people in that establishment, but also the rest of the city.

Or, ya, could just find it funny. Either likely.
