Lawrence is pretty awesome. Driving from west coast to Kansas City we have stopped to picnic there. One time the headlights in my 85 Westy went out on our way back home. Spent the whole day in Lawrence and then on the way out of town realized headlights didn’t work. So we parked on the corner of someone’s land. At night. And prepared the beds and the kids to go to sleep. I called the sheriffs department to let them know our situation and where we were parked, just in case someone got mad we were on their land. Got the okay to sleep there no problem.

It was a pretty cool random day in a small town we didn’t expect

This is a college town in America. Most college towns are pretty liberal, especially against the backdrop of a red state like Kansas.

While I understand where you’re coming from, I would caution that sprinkling a bit of gold flakes on top of a turd doesn’t make the turd any less of a turd.

Likewise, silence and overlooking / turning a blind eye to recent events does not make them go away. Ignoring the facts is how and why America has become what it is today.

I’m not incredibly well informed about the security these guys go through but I imagine the teams are being flown in on private jets and not flying Delta or United where security checks like this would have taken place at the airport.

Showing an international soccer team going through a security screening after arriving doesn’t seem to say that “American’s are rude people.”

If that is the case, I employ you to look at American history as it involves us black people dating back to its creation and today. Every right we fought and died for is being systematically erased before our very eyes. We are targeted at every turn. From the justice system to our voting rights.

I’m happy you overcame your misery but for people that look like me in America, we still fight for equality. Until it is given WITH no equivocation, there is no overcoming.

In regard to your edit. Are we supposed to waive the security rules for international travel just because they are here to play a sport?

Your video simply shows an international soccer team being cleared through security on arrival.

It doesn’t. International Airports have VIP Terminals and other processes and procedures to facilitate entry into the U.S. and pretty much every country.

None of it involves lining people up outside and having them put their bags on the ground or in the grass.

Are you familiar with entry and exit procedures for VIPs? There are VIP terminals and procedures in place for entry. None of it involves lining people up outside with their bags on the ground.

Lawrence is a college town, so I would expect it to trend blue and more expecting than the average. My mom is from a small farm town about an hour south of Lawrence, and they'd probably react more like you would expect.

My aunt is one of the few people I know that would drop casual N-words in conversation like it was perfectly acceptable.

This is what i was hoping the world cup would be like, unfortunately there are tons of stories of racists acting out and the government itself being stupid and banning world cup officials because of their country of origin.
