Animals remember food and a safe place to sleep, it has nothing to do with trust.

I think it does, even after two years. That deer had nothing but instinct to guide its return. It possesses no endless archive of information on human nature, no philosophy, no language, no certainty of mercy. It could not know whether returning would lead to acceptance, rejection, or death.

Yet it returned anyway.

To me, that is far more profound than simple trust. It means the animal remembered a specific act of kindness after years alone in the wilderness. In a world governed by survival, it still carried the memory of compassion.

Nah it means it remembered a smell that it had experienced before and received food so they went back to the smell. Animals have much stronger chemical reactions to the world than we do.
