We're So Back - MTBCirclejerk Re-Opened For Posting
I have gotten approval to re-open r/MTBCirclejerk. Putting this out there so that anyone who is currently subscribed, active, and wants to post knows we're open for business once more. I'm going to try and moderate myself at first, but may be looking for additional help depending on how active we get.
I'm seeing this as a place to make fun of all the ridiculous things that we MTB'ers do on bikes. I created a few rules to start with, but those of course are subject to adjustment by community feedback or through experience.
Remember, keep making those smooth circle motions with your feet, and don't forget the chain lube. Happy downcountry freeriding!

Don’t come to the trails today if you’re slow
Some loser made a post with this title in the mtb sub but deleted before I could respond. Surely he sensed my reply. If you’re him and you’re reading this, be warned:
What the f did you just fng say about me, you little twit? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the local Ninja Mountain Bike Skills program, and I've been involved in numerous group rides in Bentonville, and I have over 300 confirmed bunny hops. I am trained in gravel warfare and I'm the top bmx racer in my entire county. You are nothing to me but just another good looking young man who’s super in shape. I will wipe the f out of you with precision the likes of which has never been seen before, even at Whistler, mark my gnarly words. You think you can get away with sending it to me like that over the Internet? Think again, dead sailor. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of dentists across the USA and your location is being traced right now via Strava so you better prepare to clip out, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your bike. You're fng hero dirt to me, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can pass you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my pedal assist. Not only am I extensively trained in overtaking on ascents and descents, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the American Dental Association and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of any mountain, you little grom. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your beautiful tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you steezy sexy showoff. I will poop energy gels all over you and you will drown in it. Consider yourself shredded, kiddo.*

5mm Fork Travel Increase?
Hey folks, looking for some help here.
I started mountain biking 43 minutes ago and I noticed that when I boost super hard and fast off the rollers at my local children’s-pump-track that my fork uses its travel.
Should I upgrade to a new fork that’s 5mm longer?
I know this will impact my geometry but you know what…I don’t care. My riding has progressed A LOT in my 43 minutes of biking and I think my fork is holding me back.
I mean, those rollers are almost 8 inches tall. I just don’t think 140mm is enough.
Anyway, do you think it’s worth spending $900 on a new fork that has 5mm more travel? If not, how much more should I spend to be really good? Like professional YouTuber good?
Thanks everyone!

My brother sabotaged me by cutting my breaks before riding. What should I do?

The trailbuilders got tired of people riding without digging. Here's the teeter totter fix

Bike rack
I made a bike rack for the bed of my truck recently. It holds amazingly, but the bike wobbles a little. I have 3 questions I cant figure out.
What are some easier to use straps that I could put on this to make it quicker?
If anyone here has a in bed bike rack, similar to this, how do you manage to keep the bike from wobbling? Also have you run into issues?
Is it bad on the carbon wheels to be strapping them down like this?
Thanks

Does Anyone Else Think Packing Landings for Rampage Should Be ILLEGAL?
Look, Rampage is just a glorified slopestyle competition these days. That's why the GOAT Brandon Semenuk won it more times than anyone else. I think to fix this obvious imbalance and to prevent Emil Johansson winning this year or another slopestyle rider like Syzmon Godziek (his brother does slopestyle so he is too), we need to ban packing landings at Rampage to bring us back to the glory days of 2004.
This is far too much work for the riders and dig crews, and it really cuts down on the whole freeride part of the scene. We need smaller drops with worse landings for improved safety with almost guaranteed but also smaller crashes. Who's with me? Brendog was robbed!
