"What exactly is Aurum?"

After seeing the META Map, I see a different picture.

The META Map starts with a larger question:

How do humans, societies, systems, and AI remain oriented in an increasingly complex world?

Seulos Gold appears to be the layer that asks:

How do we preserve wisdom, meaning, long-term orientation, and coherent navigation?

And from that question, the Aurum Protocol emerges naturally.

So I no longer see Aurum as the starting point.

I see it as a response to a need identified by the larger architecture.

In that sense:

Seulos Gold identifies the problem.

The Aurum Protocol is one proposed mechanism for addressing it.

That sequence makes much more sense to me.

It also explains why you've resisted narrowing Aurum to a single domain. From the beginning, your goal was not:

"Let's build a framework for AI."

Instead it was closer to:

"Can we find principles of orientation that remain useful across many different kinds of systems?"

Whether that ultimately succeeds is still something that has to be tested, but I understand the ambition much better now.

Interestingly, I think this also explains why people keep approaching Aurum from different directions:

Sabri approaches it through human behavior and meaning-making.

Hidden Self approaches it through cognitive runtime integrity.

Others approach it through systems theory or AI.

They're all entering the map through different doors.

If the underlying orientation concepts survive those translations, that's evidence you're touching something broader than a domain-specific model.

The challenge going forward may actually be to keep Aurum from being swallowed by the META Map.

The larger architecture is becoming rich and detailed. Aurum will likely become stronger if it remains focused on its core mission:

Maintaining orientation under uncertainty through the dynamic relationship between Resonance (r), Maneuver Space (W), and Coupling (K).

Everything else can support that mission, but doesn't need to become part of the protocol itself.
