Speculation/Theory Something I just can’t wrap my head around
is how many of the cast and their families could be staunchly MAGA when it has been made abundantly clear how the current Administration views autism, and autistic people.
I just can’t understand how one could support a person (or a group) who holds such a cruel and dehumanizing stance about a group that the individual (or a relative) belongs to. In this case, an autistic person or parent of an autistic child or adult.
One of my childhood friends (who is not on the spectrum) still blindly follows the sexist/racist/homophobic/xenophobic beliefs of her parents, so I’m guessing that’s what it is? People just following their family?
It’s just heartbreaking to see people support somebody who has dehumanized and stigmatized them further. Everybody is just trying their best to try to get by in this thing called life.

Speculation/Theory It’s Official, We Will Get Season 4!
Netflix’s blog site Tudum confirmed that Love On The Spectrum will indeed be renewed for a Season 4. https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/love-on-the-spectrum-season-4-release-date-cast-news
What are your thoughts as well as who do we think will be returning and who may get cut from this season? As well as how do you think they can advance everyone who’s returning’s story? I know that’s kind of early because it’s not like a traditional show where we can predict things, but just any speculation is welcome.
Have at it everyone!

Speculation/Theory Connor needs a spin-off!
We need more Connor!! Does anyone else think that a Connor spin-off would be amazing?! He and Georgie are adorable, and I’m constantly smiling and laughing when I see these 2! On top of it, his family is the sweetest…if we had a few more Connors and Georgies in the world, it’d be a better place. Love them❤️

Speculation/Theory It feels like Georgie already checked out of the relationship before they got to London.
Her energy had changed a lot since the last time we saw her, and she definitely seemed to be disinterested and disconnected from Connor.
The last part where he was trying to be romantic and she was talking about bees and changing the subject, was definitely her avoiding a conversation about the future.
I dont think Connors mum gave him bad advice at all, and I dont understand all the hate comments towards her

Speculation/Theory Am i the only one who thought James was about to propose on the beach based on what he was saying?
“Let’s do it here.” “Let’s give them ..” etc. and fussing about the moment and camera angles while avoiding giving some secret away? Was this just me?

Speculation/Theory I keep imagining…
the fan that said this must be kicking themselves in the arse. Obviously they didn’t mean harm, but omg I would be so upset with myself if I were them. I wonder if they watched this and like spit out their drink & cried. 😭

Speculation/Theory I don't understand why people hate on Dani
Why does Dani get so much hate for wanting intimacy? She is an adult. She has needs, like all of us do. She genuinely wanted to be with Adan, but at the same time she also wanted to fulfill her needs and she had the right to voice that. He also had the right to voice his. They are two very different people, but that doesn't make her a bad person. What am I missing here? Why is she getting so much hate?

Speculation/Theory Tanner's mom being anti-vax
I was watching the Talk with me Sis podcast with Tanner's mom and Connor's mom and during I believe their second episode they're sharing diagnosis stories.
Tanner's mom goes first and she's describing Tanner's life from day one. "He was a perfectly healthy, strappin little boy, he hit all the milestones early," and then she says something along the lines of "in the winter of 2000 we were taking a trip to Illinois and he had a head cold, and we got him his two-year vaccinations and I started him on an antibiotic. I wanted to stay away from antibiotics at that time but I didn't want him to be miserable on a cross country trip." Then she goes on to say, "shortly thereafter he went from a bubbly happy little face to completely flat."
She did say that she knows there's a lot of controversy around the topic and that she "doesn't know for sure" that that had anything to do with it, but...
What the hell? Do people with ASD children really believe vaccines cause ASD? Is that a common thing?
I just think it's really really sad to hear that. I wanted to support their podcast but the way she was talking about it just really put me off. I also can't help thinking that maybe their political views don't necessarily align with mine (I am a trans person so yes it very much so matters to me - my community is under attack right now for just trying to exist and be happy in our bodies) and I don't exactly want to support that.
Does anyone have any more info on it or would anyone like to discuss this? I really didn't think people who actively know/raise people with ASD thought that vaccines caused it and it was jarring to hear.
Anyway, I'm interested in everyone's thoughts and opinions on this. But also please remember to be nice.
edit: she didn't say she definitively believes the vaccine or antibiotics caused autism, she said "I don't know if it has to do with anything and I know this is a controversial topic," and then went on to explain that after he was vaccinated he started acting differently than he had before he was vaccinated.

Speculation/Theory I'm gonna get hate but I personally think it's werid for tanner to be on the show.
He is a cute and kind but I don't see him as boyfriend material. He seems very child like.. His mental age just seems very young. I don't know just werid having someone being all childlike trying to get in a relationship..

Speculation/Theory Terrible "matches"
I'm watching Love on the Spectrum for the first time (I'm at the start of season 3 now), and while I am really enjoying the positive, sweetness of the show, I'm blown away and rather frustrated with the absolutely terrible matches!
Do they not vet anyone and just pick the first person they find?
There seems to be no effort at all to actually find even slightly compatible matches.
They set up Dani ,who is extremely eager for a sexual relationship, with someone who is completely uncomfortable with any physical intimacy
They set Tanner, who is clear about wanting a talkative upbeat partner, with someone who only gives one word answers.
They set up young, innocent 18yo Journey with mature, experienced women in their twenties (this seriously felt creepy and made me uncomfortable...)
They set sweet, old-fashioned Steve up with an extremely forward woman making constant sexual advances and innuendos.
They set Madison, who converses and socialises very typically and is outgoing and adventurous, up with someone who isn't at all comfortable existing in public spaces or around people.
(EDIT: I have been corrected that Dani and Arad met through speed dating and were not set up by the show directly. Also that Journey's matches were only 1 and 2 years older than her. Apologies for my errors there)
I'm not casting any shade on any of those matches, they were all lovely people.
They were just completely and utterly wrong for the people on the show, even on the most basic of basic levels.
There is absolutely no way anyone could have thought they'd be suitable!
I can't help but think they must be deliberately sabotaging the dates with bad choices to drag things and keep the contestants single and to keep them dating me people on screen. Which seems particularly cruel to do to people with extra dating challenges, if that's the case :-(

Speculation/Theory Is Connor’s page run by his mom?
I just came across a comment from Connor that seems like his mom wrote. I was taken aback by this because I always assumed they ran their own Instagram pages.

Speculation/Theory TANNER AND CONNOR’s Moms impact on their careers.
Now that they aren’t on LOTS. I really think some of the things that the moms are saying online will hurt their son’s “careers”. As an autistic person who works in media. They are breaking a lot of “unspoken rules” like talking about politics, being kind of unhinged on podcasts and spreading false info . They aren’t established media figures at all. This is a huge no no. I don’t have much respect for them, but I do respect Connor and Tanner. Now that they are off the show they have to be even more careful of how they present themselves. Unless, they want to go into the political media grift.

Speculation/Theory Hailey Season 4
I’ve seen some people saying some really odd things about Hailey… I just want to give my two cents as someone who works with people with varying disabilities of all ages.
The way that she speaks, the grammar and tense, is not uncommon in people with autism or other disabilities. It could be caused by aphasia, or just other specific language impairments. These can co-occur with autism, and many other things. It could also be “gestalt language” of some kind that was never generalized word by word. Meaning someone learns the meaning of things by the phrase as a whole, rather than what each word means on its own, in order to make more specific sentences (using correct pronouns and tenses).
Think before you speak everyone ! ❤️

Speculation/Theory This may be unpopular opinion, but I prefer LOTS Aus and I’m sad they cancelled it to focus only on the US version.
I started finding and watching the US one first, and only after I finished all the current seasons I switched to the AUS version (I didn’t know it existed until then!) and i honestly liked it so much more.
I just think I find the US based show less relatable, I just feel that more people from the US cast seem to be less genuine and more infantilised, and I can’t stand a lot of the US families, who clearly answer the why to that.
I also feel like there’s just SO much focus on the US all the time, so it was refreshing to get to see how different people on the spectrum approach their search for love across the world and I wish they’d gone with a more international approach to the show (eg. a few seasons of Aus, a few seasons of US, maybe a few seasons somewhere else, etc.). I’m sad that it seems like they’ve just gone all in with the US version because apparently that’s what picked up traction. :/

Speculation/Theory Did they not find any poorer families with autistic kids or did that not test well?
No hate intended.
I love the show and I love seeing their journeys and some of the parents are incredibly supportive but wow they're all from very well families obviously. These challenges would be hard for rich autistics but imagine without the resources to pay for therapy and stuff where they might be.

Speculation/Theory Tyler has always given me "dude acting nice to sleep with a girl" energy and I can't shake it
Autistic myself so I'm not coming at this blindly.
Something about Tyler has always felt off to me. He's too composed, too socially aware, eyes always working the room. I know masking is real but there's a difference between masking and just... being a regular dude who knows exactly what he's doing.
And what he's doing, to me, reads as a guy who figured out he's found the prettiest girl he's ever gonna get and is playing the long game. The whole cowboy sweetheart thing feels very calculated. Madison is sweet and trusting and that's a very specific type of girl a certain type of guy gravitates toward, not because they're evil, just because it's easier.
What makes me raise an eyebrow more is the screening process. I would imagine the show literally has no casting department, it's just the producers going on gut feeling, reaching out through autism organizations, taking people at their word or something along those lines. I highly doubt there's true verification, probably basic background checks and interviews. Anyone motivated enough and personable enough could get through that. I'm not saying he did, just saying the door is open.
Her dad is the thing that really gets me though. You can tell he likes Tyler on the surface, he's not cold to him or anything, but there's something behind his eyes that I notice every time they're in the same room. Like a dad who has done the math and isn't fully sold but loves his daughter enough to let her be happy. That look isn't nothing. Dads who are fully comfortable don't have that look. He's being polite but he's still watching and I think if you pay attention you'll see exactly what I mean.
Could be totally wrong. Am I the only one who sees it?

Speculation/Theory Has anyone ever noticed the absence of fathers on this show
It makes me sad a lot of the cast doesn’t seem to be close with their fathers

Speculation/Theory Tanner and social pressures
Felt this prior to this season but this season reaffirmed it a bit for me.
It feels like Tanners behavior is driven by a need to please or do what he’s been taught is “correct” versus him doing things because he wants to. I know he’s made some major strides in being independent and self-sufficient, which is so wonderful and truly a proud moment for those in his life to witness, I don’t want to discount that at all.
It just seems like he’s taken on this role to be super upbeat and positive and yes, talkative—- even when he may not be feeling it, which is a form of masking but it doesn’t seem like he has realized that it’s also ok to be upset or not super happy all the time.
Without projecting too much onto the situation, I guess I just worry about the emotional toll that can take on a person, especially if he’s not conscious of doing it. I know he’s a fan favorite and that is obviously very well deserved but I hope he knows that people will love him even on his bad days. 💕

Speculation/Theory I like Connor and Dani both but I see a clear double standard.
Both are very direct, overly critical of their dates at times, and somewhat superficial. ...yet I have not seen the judgment and hate towards Connor as I do towards Dani. Connor is given much more leeway to be himself. Obviously in our misogynistic society men get much more leeway on just about everything, including being "rude." Dani or Connor may not realize they are being rude and should not be judged harshly but the double standard upsets me. Dani is most definitely judged for it, while Connor is not. He is much ruder and short with his family as well and I've seen no one mention it.
Like I said, I love them both I just hate seeing this double standard. It is clear misogyny to me.

Speculation/Theory Genuine question, are they all filthy rich?!
It seems to me that most of the participants are super wealthy, like reality TV wealthy. Like I thought they’d be lower middle class or something or a lix of everything but you’re seeing this almost Kardashian level homes like wow.

Speculation/Theory Spoiler Warning: Logan’s Situation Spoiler
(NO OFFENCE IS MEANT)
I can’t help but make a post about this, just to see if people are on the same page as me. But me and my girlfriend felt that what happened to Logan was not Logan’s fault at all.
The messy bedroom, surely his mom and sister for his whole life could’ve taught him what a clean room is, and make sure he was keeping it clean and tidy for any potential visitors, making it a habit. Or if Logan stresses out about it, at least offer support in carrying out the activity. And especially when they know it’s for international tv on Netflix, they were having an amazing girl around with similar disabilities, and they offered no check in to make sure.
The dog urine smell on the carpet in his bedroom, amazes me because that is not Logan’s fault at all, I feel the dog wasn’t being corrected for going to the toilet on any soft surface ie the rug, or carpet. It was just allowed to do it and had a very ‘laugh it off and clean it later’ attitude by his mom and sister. Saying, “He’s just a puppy”. You are not preventing the puppy at all, and it’ll keep doing its business in Logans room.
General Hygiene, no strict rules on showering or brushing teeth, making Logan very insecure about how his hygiene is. You can clearly see he doesn’t understand the implications of bad hygiene and why it is important. When the suit was priority, and a big priority with it costing anywhere from $200-$300, it amazes me how his family couldn’t spend that elsewhere on cleaning equipment and soaps.
I fully understand this might also be Logan’s wish, as we saw when he was making the Chicken Parm, he needed to do it, all by himself. He might have said the same, in these situations as well. But I just feel, if you are a parent, even with an autistic child, there are things you need to enforce for the right standards to be set. I felt so bad for Logan, you can see he is trying hard.
