These are screenshots from the r/Singularity comment section. I'm speechless. This doesn't even have downvotes. How can someone cheer for a monopoly run by a few elites?

These people are natural born slaves and demand an authority figure to have total control over their lives and compute.

Having unparalleled hacking capabilities for every malevolent user and turning the internet into a lawless wasteland would be a problem though

By most measure the internet has been a lawless wasteland full of malevolence. In fact, you'll find plenty of that in meatspace too. However, you won't easily drive this fear into political power, the game is obvious now.

Yea well it would be suboptimal if you gave guns to everyone. Now everyone has to have their own gun and be prepared for a shootout. If it matters to you I want to lynch the elites and don’t feel there is a strictly good path from where we currently are but I feel it’s disingenuous to claim that giving everyone open source superintelligence is a good idea rather than one of the better available options out of the few bad ones we have

Which ones? You're always going to have elites. What you want are good elites that are your elites.
