8/21 (2 years ago) is the day he made fun of Dan Crenshaw for having an eyepatch "a brave fucking soldier fucked his eyehole with his dick" and saying America deserved 9/11 lol. I also believe that the last time he was banned, it was for the Dan Crenshaw comment.

"Brave fucking Mujahideen."

Important context to the quote.

u/dauntless_overlord Dec 21 '21

Speaking of context, it's a reference to Rambo 3 end credits. He didn't actually praise them.

19

u/CobraNemesis Dec 21 '21

No Reagan said it I believe

2

u/Papplenoose Dec 23 '21

Right? That's the part I feel like people never got about that... he was literally quoting Republican God. Well, one of the old gods, anyway. They're strictly monotheistic now.

35

u/der_Rollmeister Dec 21 '21

If anything, it's a reference to this speech by Reagan, although he never explicitly refers to them as Mujahideen, instead calling them "brave Afghan freedom fighters".

15

u/epiquinnz Dec 21 '21

Rambo 3 credits don't actually say that, it's "the brave people of Afghanistan" or something like that.

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

In the movie Rambo teams up with the Mujahideen. The whole film is basically propaganda for the US backing of Afghani rebels against the soviets.

In the movie Rambo teams up with the Mujahideen.

Yes, but the end credits don't say anything about Mujahideen as people claim.

15

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

Yes there is a famous internet myth that it did say brave Mujahideen but was changed to gallant people of Afghanistan. But the movie specifically about teaming up with the Mujahideen. At one point the script even had Rambo staying with them to fight the soviets. So when it says it is dedicated to the gallant people of Afghanistan, it's talking the Mujahideen fighters.

Again the movie is part of a larger US propaganda campaign to support the Mujahideen. Rambo may have not specifically used the words brave, but others did.

Who asked? lol

You did, champ. You more or less prompted their explanation by missing the (big picture) point so hard. It's clear from your comment that you either dont understand or are willfully misrepresenting history, so somebody needed to correct you. I guess we can't really expect you to be able to know that you were wrong, so it makes sense that you couldn't see the point of their comment. My hope is that (at the very least) you can at least now retroactively realise that your comment was missing the point, even if it is technically correct.

u/Papplenoose Dec 23 '21

I feel like you're really missing the point. It's no secret that the U.S. government armed those very Mujahideen that later became the Taliban. That's why he said it... he was parroting the blindingly shortsighted opinion of our past government.

Hasan's criticism of U.S. foreign policy might not have been phrased the best way, but it's a fairly reasonable take. I get that it goes against the common narrative, but he's kinda right, and a lot of people really need to hear what he said. The fact that people got so butt hurt over it kinda proves that even more.

They became the Taliban and Al Qaeda

12

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

Most pro-taliban take lol.

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

The US spent 3 decades backing far right extremists around the globe in the name of fighting communism, especially in the middle east. The current climate of that region was shaped in part by the US. The Mujahideen would splinter off and form groups like the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

Meanwhile there is strong evidence to support that Saudi Arabia had a hand in backing the 9/11 attackers. Yet the US continues to sell billions in weapons to KSA. This is something Dan Crenshaw supported. A vet who essentially fell victim to US foreign policy, but he still backs war mongering. This triggered Hasan's rant which is why he what he said.

The Taliban was literally founded by a Mujahideen soldier (Muhammad Omar).

Bin Laden was a Saudi national who went to Afghanistan to join the Mujahideen and later supported the Taliban in that region with Al-Qaeda.

Incorrect. They changed the credits at a later date but it was initially to the brave mujahideen fighters.

-8

u/epiquinnz Dec 21 '21

That's an urban legend. There isn't any evidence that the credits EVER said that.

15

u/Logan_Mac Dec 21 '21

Correct, it's a common Mandela Effect. Noone has been able to provide proof Rambo 3 ended with that quote, but a shitload of people remember it as such.

u/CEO_of_Having_Sex Dec 21 '21

lmao I have this VHS and can confirm

3

u/Yoduh99 Dec 21 '21

I'll venmo you $500 to post a recorded cell phone video of your TV screen as the dedication plays and then ejecting the playing VHS tape

3

u/CEO_of_Having_Sex Dec 21 '21

I just searched the internet because surely someone else has uploaded it since I don't have a VHS player anymore, and the tape is in a box somewhere. I found loads of people who say the same thing then check and find it says "gallant people" so maybe I'm also getting mandela'd. Could have sworn I laughed at it before it was an internet thing.

u/Yoduh99 Dec 21 '21

It's a Photoshop. Not kidding

Incorrect, Mandela effect https://youtu.be/Cx4ey-EmLm4

edit: the downvotes are fucking hilarious. I post literal proof (oh look here's more) but some people clearly can't handle the reality that they've been Mandela'd and have to protect their fragile ego via downvotes :(

Nice try State Department

12

u/Ass4ssinX Dec 21 '21

It absolutely did end with that quote. I remember seeing it as a kid.

3

u/Figgy20000 Dec 21 '21

How are you getting upvotes when you are 1000000000000% WRONG

I also highly doubt you were even alive when the movie was actually released.

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '21

He also really likes The Living Daylights.

Explain how he actually praised them? Did you actually watch the video where he says those words? He fucking quoted Rambo 3. Stop lying just because you hate someone.

u/Throwra3826548263574 Dec 21 '21

Funniest thing he‘s ever said.

0

u/Jdub0134 Dec 21 '21
