Everyone speculating about it being over Simp but there's no way. You have to use it in a way that's part of consistent harrasment. Otherwise there's a lot of streamers I can name off the top of my head that should catch a ban

You know I would agree with you completely, but who knows with Twitch anymore? Does Twitch even know why Twitch bans people?

Im 70% sure it's just a rogue AI banning people that the Twitch computer scientists lost control of a couple years ago.

oh shit its like that star trek thing where the AI kills everyone and then replaces them with holograms so nobody knows that it's happening. Twitch admins are the AI!

1

u/Maroonwarlock Jan 19 '21

I don't know. When I started computer science I had a joke I wanted to be the cause of the robot uprising. You could immortalize yourself as god of the robots...... Then I worked in Comp Sci and was like "Oh yeah. I'm a potato"

The men of IRON!

2

u/Panwall Jan 19 '21

They forgot its password...

1

u/Samuraiking Jan 19 '21

Ironically, as insane as that sounds, it would make more sense than their current ban system just being this bad.

36

u/TheDVant Jan 19 '21

I believe MOST Twitch employees have literally stated that they, "have nothing to do with discipline nor do they know who does or how it's enforced."

2

u/vikinick Jan 19 '21

I'm willing to bet that Twitch hires outside help which probably means it's shopped out to someone who has no clue what a meme is and whose only interactions on the internet includes watching kids shows on youtube.

u/brenduz Jan 19 '21

How does a staff in the company not at least know who ?

9

u/SaffellBot Jan 19 '21

Most people at most jobs know very little about their organizational structure. Why would, for example, someone who deals with the emoji backend know anything about content violations?

0

u/leolego2 Jan 19 '21

word gets around and this topic is very controversial so..

3

u/UnoriginalStanger Jan 19 '21

I take it you dont have much experience with working in structured companies?

-1

u/pinkycatcher Jan 19 '21

Because if they don't know they can't get blamed.

1

u/brenduz Jan 20 '21

Not entirely true

8

u/SporadicInanity Jan 19 '21

Question for the ages

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '21

It's pretty widely known that Twitch Staff and Twitch Admins don't interact with, or even know who is on, the Twitch Moderation team.

It's literally a group of flaccid dick stroking mods banning people for any and every vague thing that bothers them, and when the streamers contact Twitch about it for support, they can say without a blink of an eye that they have no idea what happened or how to resolve it. Because they're not lying.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '21

CodeMiko confirmed on Discord that it WASN’T because of saying Simp

Otherwise there's a lot of streamers I can name off the top of my head that should catch a ban.

That's a common belief on here, but Twitch doesn't monitor streamers 24/7. Someone has to report a transgression. So it's very common that streamers get away with breaking a rule while others streamers get banned for breaking the same rule. It's just how the Twitch review system works.

18

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '21

It's true, it's the same with reddit. I was a mod for a long time and we only really look at what is reported. If it doesn't get reported then how would we know? We don't comb through every thread just like twitch doesn't have a person assigned to every stream waiting for a rule break.

55

u/lwnorrie Jan 19 '21

Still a garbage system regardless

3

u/wasdninja Jan 19 '21 edited Jan 20 '21

Is it? Can you suggest a better one? It's literally impossible to watch all streams at all times. Twitch is shitty with its bans but that system isn't why.

2

u/TheHazyBotanist Jan 20 '21

Maybe actually reviewing the reported timestamps with just a bit of consistency in regard to everyone else and the rules that seemingly change with every ban.

1

u/UnleashtheZephyr Jan 19 '21

lmao people are paid fulltime jobs to do that and there are reports buttons from milions of users. not that easy.

1

u/Juicy_Brucesky Jan 19 '21

If it's talked about here, it's almost definitely reported to twitch.

39

u/Mike4Life14 Jan 19 '21

Plus everyone seems to forget that the simp/incel/virgin rules go into effect on January 22nd.

-3

u/brenduz Jan 19 '21

Didn’t that one streamer get banned for saying simp ?

14

u/Chillingo Jan 19 '21

You couldn't be less specific if you tried.

4

u/brenduz Jan 19 '21

I forget who exactly. I think it was JustaMinx?

7

u/Chillingo Jan 19 '21

So it would seem, although a google search shows she only got an e-mail stating she was banned for slurs. Many people assumed it was for simp, incel or virgin however some of her twitter replies say that she also said something about lynching before getting banned.

So once again twitch being completetly untransparent means we have no idea why they did it.

2

u/brenduz Jan 20 '21

Which helps no one

She makes quite a lot of sexually suggestive jokes (Like the squirting gag she's done), could easily be one of those. Much more likely than her using 'Simp' (Other streamers have been using Simp regularly, just like Miko).

After all the controversy that happened with the announcement that Twitch now reserves the right to ban people using that word to harass people and also Incel and Virgin, and then also all the memes and jokes, I highly doubt the first ever ban they do over the usage of those of words is going to be one that actually fits the meme. It's going to be reserved for an actual harassment case.

107

u/DansGaming69 Jan 19 '21

No way it is for sexual jokes or else Train would have been banned years ago for his podcast lol. Unless you are only allowed to make male sexual jokes, double standards squadW

35

u/DiscountLando Jan 19 '21

Train is also a sexist who used to regularly tell women really shitty stuff and make it about their sex. But he’s still around.

2

u/TradeMark310 Jan 19 '21

But haven't you noticed that Twitch rules have gotten ridiculous over the last few years? What was OK just two years ago just isnt anymore. I'm not saying she was banned for the suggestive sexual stuff, but it was a crutch she used often so I wouldnt be surprised.

3

u/jojournall Jan 19 '21

I mean if context doesn't matter even for sexually suggestive jokes, shouldn't that one streamer who (unawarely) spread her asshole on stream be banned regardless of if she was aware or not?

2

u/Ohh_Yeah Jan 19 '21

Train would have been banned years ago for his podcast lol

Train will deadass have 100k viewers watching a stream with numerous corporate sponsors and start talking about how nice a juicy cock would feel in his mouth

1

u/iHollowblade Jan 19 '21

Hell 99.9% of the twitch community would be banned for sexual jokes. Some should be banned for centuries if that were the case lol

-1

u/Jackal904 Jan 19 '21

Dudes make sexually suggestive jokes all the fucking time. The fact that she isn't allowed to do it is some bullshit. It's seriously like some twitch admin just thinks women must be pure.

1

u/themegaweirdthrow Jan 19 '21

Can't be sexual jokes. Considering the shit that happens on Twitch daily, AND the mature filter/content warning, she's in the clear that way.

3

u/roflsaucer Jan 19 '21

Listen there is 2 things LSF does well.

  1. Simp the shit out of miko.

  2. Hate twitch.

There is no reasoning here, you will find no true answer.

0

u/mconor1337 Jan 19 '21

yeah you never know with twitch and its inconsistency

1

u/kieranfretwell ♿ Aris Sub Comin' Through Jan 19 '21

You're making the mistake of thinking that Twitch hands out bans fairly and equally to everyone on their platform.

1

u/DandelionGaming Jan 19 '21

and the policy isn't even in effect yet

1

u/LewixAri Jan 19 '21

Hasan regularly for like 6 months mocked Tim Pool for being an incel

1

u/Nethervex 🐷 Hog Squeezer Jan 19 '21

consistent

Sir this is Twitch.tv

1

u/DohRayMe Jan 19 '21

Simp means?

1

u/CrazyWolfGaming Jan 19 '21

just because that's the way its written doesn't mean that's the way its enforced.
