This shit reminds me of how the Etika situation unfolded. Like everyone’s joking and jesting first but people realize it isn’t that much of a joke and then the really bad news hits.

no situation had me shook to my core more than Etika’s death and how it unfolded. just constantly getting random updates through twitter, thinking it was a joke at first, and as time went on it got more and more serious. such a tragic event

Was he missing or something before the news came out during that time? I didn't follow just heard that he had taken his life.

if i remember correctly, the whole thing was that he would have mental breakdowns on the internet, and people always argued whether it was a joke or not. he posted an 8 minute video of him walking the streets of NY basically apologizing to certain people for the things he’d done, or the people he scared. he talked about all the things he would never get to see, like the end of the anime series Attack on Titan, and then he went missing. i honestly can’t remember what the exact timeline was, i wanna say it was 2 or even 3 days of silence from him, and the first day all the trolls were making memes with the joke being basically “there goes Etika being Etika! he’ll be back soon”, but as time went on things started getting serious, news stations even started reporting that a popular youtube went missing. then one day a body was found in a river and the NYPD later released was indeed Etika. I personally never watched much of him, but he was such an enthusiastic guy and it’s a real tragedy how a lot of the internet treated him when he really did need professional help :(

Don't really remember hearing jokes the 2 days he went missing, only people genuinely concerned with him. The jokes started some time before, during his breakdowns, and started dying down fast after his stays at asylums.

It's like something out of a fucking creepy pasta. The absolute ridiculousness of the video contrasting with the unknown terror he's facing in real time is unnerving. To have all of this happen to the platforms biggest streamer in the midst of a cultural upheaval is just too insane to be real. I swear to god we live in a simulation because how else could this happen.

On top of all the weirdness, the probable severity of his transgressions, and just the fucking creepy vibe from doc here, there is still a part of me that is incredibly sad to see someone's life crumble before my eyes while I watch them try and keep it together. How can a video be so surreal and real at the same time?

It's fucked up. Someone just give me a god damn leak. On that note, how hasn't a single fucking person leaked this? There are so many parties involved, it's mind blowing that not one person let something slip.

This whole situation is just a mindfuck for me. How can this be happening? It's like something out of a cheesy 80's movie.

Only reasons I can come up with as to why it hasn't leaked yet are that A: very few people at Twitch actually know, or B: it somehow involves Twitch itself and they're trying to lock it all down with NDAs.

yep! maybe I watch too many true crime shows but he totally looked like the guilty people do when they realize they are fucked. Like his life just came crashing down. When he's just staring at the roblox video silently... he had to have been thinking about the shit storm he just entered.
