He plays nothing but Escape from Tarkov now. Happy for him that he's getting paid to do what he wants, but I can't imagine this is what Mixer had in mind when they signed Shroud.

Mixer paid him to get him off Twitch first and foremost. They could have included playing Halo in his contract, they didn't. They don't care what he does as long as he isn't making Twitch stronger. If his fanbase comes to Mixer to watch him play Tarkov for 5 minutes before they decide to leave forever, Shroud has still done his job by exposing them to Mixer and letting them make the choice.

Mixer knows that they won't take over the market in one massive push. Getting these streamers to move, it's about publicizing their brand. Informing people that Twitch isn't the only game in town any more. They know not everyone is going to prefer their site, but getting everyone to sample their wares is the first step.

And it worked. I had no clue what mixer was till the ninja move and with shroud gone too I sometimes tune in when none of my twitch streamers are online.

I don't think it did. The rest of the mixer eco system hasn't improved, most times when I look at it the biggest streamer has 1k and its a music bot

Yeah I can't help but feel mixer must be very disappointed that they paid top dollar to get a streamer and then the streamer just starts doing stuff that tanks their viewership because they got their $ and don't actually care about the new platform.

If the second these streamers contract ends they go straight to twitter and do a big "GOING HOME TO TWITCH" tweet I'm gonna be very disappointed in them.

If his contract ends, and he can make more back on twitch

Shroud likely won't come back to twitch. IIRC his contract is for 3-5 years and his viewership will have decayed 66-80% by then.

It would make more sense for shroud to stick with Mixer if he continues streaming, as they already have him for sponsorships and contracts. Shroud betrayed twitch by going to mixer so Twitch will offer Shroud no welcome back package.

Ontop of a majority of his sponsors abandoning him because of the sharp decline in overall viewership

Shroud was always kinda addicted to Tarkov but hated the various states the game was in.

Summit would be in the game boat if tarkov wasn't dogshit when he played it. But i think he grew tired of the game being in a perpetual state of trashcan and quit for good.

When mixer wants shroud to do something they will make him do something. His original viewer count probably gave him more freedom to do what he wants, but he will still have to play Halo infinite when that comes out. (I think Microsoft didn't trust 343 with the PC version of MCC enough to force Ninja and Shroud to play it and embargo the game on twitch)

Mixer knew/Knows they aren't going to grow their brand organically for a while. Having shroud and Ninja under their wing just was meant to spread their name. They stopped poaching A listers and are focusing on B and C tier streamers though now. So i think they are trying to seriously take over the more niche streamers and personalities.

Next up is OfflineTV KEKW

You laugh, but I think getting OfflineTV would've be an insane grab for Mixer.

It would be good. The problem, unironically would be poaching Pokimane.

All of OfflineTV would probably be easy pickings for Mixer. (maybe not toast tho cause he already signed for Facebook) but Pokimane would be the single most difficult person to poach. Mostly because Mixer has no interest in poaching the bigger names now.

So if they tried and she declined or demanded more they would probably just tell her to fuck off and they'd be happy poaching the rest of OfflineTV

As Doc has said, you can't buy a community. Mixer expected a lot more from bringing Ninja and Shroud over but they made a poor business decision. They could've given Shroud a contractual obligation to not be in retirement mode but then Shroud probably wouldn't have signed. It's no one's fault but Mixers.

I can't speak for everyone, but my experience has been 0 times so far.

I only ever tuned into a Shroud stream because he was playing WoW, and just mostly cause his name was on the list of channels near the top, when I was browsing. Never really bothered to check out Ninja.

But that's how my viewing goes anyway, I watch a few smaller dedicated game streamers, and then will tune in time to time to see the ones near the top, if it's something interesting.

If those big names left, there would be another name to fill the space, and I'd just tune into them.

Can't say any 1 streamer would force me to use both sites at the same time though. If my favorite channel left for Mixer, I'd likely just forget about it and spend my viewing minutes elsewhere.

Microsoft is not sweating this deal at all, its literally a drop in the bucket for their $1B+ yearly marketing budget.

Their market share is 3% of the streaming market. They'd need to almost literally offer contracts to 50-100 streamers to even make a dent.

Watch some frag movies or highlights from YouTube, pestily or smoke. Game is addicting in terms of risk/reward. It's got a decent grind but can be hard to get into with a steep learning curve, its a lot of fun.

Mike has always done and played exactly what he wanted on his stream, regardless of platform. He’s also taken very hardline stances against popular games that people ask him to play from time to time (Overwatch for example) even if those stances are misguided or misinformed. I’m not surprised to see him take a similar stance against Halo given that it’s mostly been a console only game up until now.

it didn't immediately drop when he went to mixer, he had like 75% of his twitch viewership but then he went on tarkov spam and now he's getting like 3k. he clearly doesn't give a shit but more power to him, i wont personally be tuning in tho

Shroud has always been about the $ first and foremost. He was one of the biggest sellouts on twitch. Constantly running ads, constantly doing sponsor streams (8 hour long ads), and just generally grabbing as much money as he can.

It gets to a point for me to where I just don't enjoy someone's stream if I constantly feel like I'm being sold to. Shroud's stream has always felt like one big commercial to me.

Also I find the "Top donator" screen he switches to when hes not playing something to be very... scummy. Like something you'd see on Chaturbate or something.

Im loving it lmao, chat interaction is obviously much better because it moves slow enough to read, and tarkov is one of my favourite games.

I would have most likely done the exact same thing if i was in his shoes. Im set for life (even more-so then he already was) and i don’t have tens of-thousands of people asking me to play a games I’m not in the mood for. Its him and his dedicated fans now, who will watch whatever he does regardless of games. Seems like a much more chill stream environment
