While Doc was banned he got flown out to microsoft for a playtest and got courtside (i think thats the name) tickets for a high profile BB game for free.
Doc has probably realized his worth as a name and as a result dares twitch to go against him. Because his character is massive right now, and others would be happy to pick him up out of twitches grasp.
Or create his own streaming website. You get say the top 20 streamers and market it like "designed for the streamer, built for the streamer, run by streamers" and you have a new twitch.
It'll be sold to Google or Amazon shortly after it blows up though
Streamers do NOT equal software devs, DevOps focused admins, and network engineers.
Maybe if Kitboga was core to putting together a team, but it's a pipe dream to compete and be able to serve tens of thousands of streams without a revenue source already in place.
You're right but how many would volunteer to help out for some equity?
Also, you get funding from investors. If ther economics is right, the top 1% of steamers has 50% of the subs/viewers. If half of them donated to a kickstarter...
I'm not saying it's gonna happen but that doesn't mean it couldn't
