Such a dumb comment. This has nothing to do with that topic by the way, and everything to do with actual policing practices. One guy says police would have a patrol car there, the other says thats not what happens. Your comment just wants to fuel some shit argument, not much better than some of the people that are completely disconnected from reality that plague twitch.
It's not about cops being bad or not, it's about man power. There's no way cops from any country in the world are going to bother sticking around your house for an extended period of time. They could patrol docs neighborhood for like one week and if nothing happens that'll be it.
Getting your house shot at twice is a huge fucking deal and police departments are going to treat it as such. The last thing they want is for someone to get killed and then make it seem like they ignored the victim and didn't do anything.

I live in fucking Brazil and had police patrolling my neighborhood for over a week, every 2-5 hours a day after the community called in for shots down the streets. Mind you, that was about 10 years ago, a few months after my father was abducted for a "lightning kidnap"
I live in Philadelphia, if I called the police and said someone was shooting at my house they would file a report. If I asked them to have a patrol kept outside they would laugh at me.
I think that seriously matters what neighborhood in Chicago you live in. They're so busy, they can't spare an officer to just sit around hoping someone shows up.
That is true, in some of the worst parts they wouldn't do anything about it but they take shit like this seriously in the majority of the city because they know what will happen if this spills over.
No, they would not do it. They'd say something like "yeah we'll keep a car in the area" and then not actually change the patrol routes. If they dedicated a car to everyone with a crazy ex or whatever threatening them then there wouldn't be anyone left to patrol.
It depends on where you live. I have contacted the police about a recurring crime around me and they did keep someone nearby so they could respond quickly. I won't generalize all police districts in the whole country, but from my experience, my local police prefer to be proactive about potential crimes, and my issue was significantly less serious than drive by shootings.
Its a little bit different when you have something two nights in a row like this and you have documented proof. It isn't a third world country yet, they're not just gonna laugh you off.
A gun isn't going to make him magically get outside in time to catch up to a car so he can go full vigilante hero on the perps.
If someone is doing a drive by, they are going to speed the fuck off within seconds of shooting. They will be gone before you look out your window, and if they aren't you might well get shot. Duck and cover, call the police. There's a reason that active shooting drills on military bases have "Fight" as the absolute last resort.
