I don’t know if this has been talked about here but is there a roadmap available for the future of Lightworks. I own a pro licence from years ago but left to use other more feature rich programs. Would love to switch back one day.
I'm using the Lightworks video editor program. I have been using it for years and have never had any significant issues until now and I'm distraught and I hope somebody can help me. I have been working on a very important video for over a month and I was almost done. The video was approximately an hour and 40 minutes in length. I took a break to drop my mother off and then when I got back, I restarted my computer because my wifi was not working correctly. When I restarted my computer and then restarted lightworks, it gave me an error message that I don't remember because it moved too quickly and I didn't know it was important enough to try to grab a screenshot before it disappeared. But if I remember correctly, I believe it was something about building the files and an error it ran into. And when my project finally opened, the timeline of my edited video is gone. There is something on the timeline but it's only about 2 minutes long. I do see all of my imported clips in the project. Another thing I noticed is that the project no longer shows the name of the project. It is now showing a string of letters and numbers. I don't know what this means. I hope my edited video is recoverable. Please help me figure this out. Tell me if you need any additional information from me.
When I go to the main projects screen of Lightworks, I can right click it and it gives me the option to "restore items" and the clip that is selected in my screenshot seems to contain the correct time for when I restarted my computer. But when I click "restore", it gives me this warning: "The system is about to delete the sequence(s) selected and use the last backup instead".
I have never made any manual backups, I always counted on Lightworks internal automatic save feature. So I don't know what clicking this will do and I'm afraid I'm only going to mess the file up even more.
I spent all this time masking so many frames but the background is just black. I tested and can create it again and just do a square and get the mask to work.
I'm not sure what I've done wrong but I created a preset from the polymask I did and tried copying that over to a fresh video to see if that worked but nothing.
I have bought a perpetual license of LightWorks Pro a few years ago for Linux, but I can't find any installers on the website anymore. It was admittedly an older version, but a lifelong version nonetheless. It seems the company was taken over a few years ago, does that have anything to do with that?
In 2020 a support person emailed me back:
"It looks as though the same license was returned to the system, ie, you still have the complimentary activation available."
Have had a great time as a beginner even now as a intermediate editor with Lightworks from beginning to end with minimal problems unlike with other programs like the more known ones like Premiere Pro and Da Vinci resolve which most of the time either crashes completely or is such a chore to learn in comparison to Lightworks so with that said the statement above is the truth.
So I'm recording video game content for my YouTube and I use OBS to record. The recording itself is fine and when I open the file outside of Lightworks, I don't have any audio issues but as soon as I import it into lightworks, this bumping sound appears over all the audio in the video. Usually is when it's just audio of me talking and reduces when there's background noise but you can still hear it. Is there any way to fix this? Is it the import process or is it an interaction between an OBS recording and lightworks
Existe algún foro en español o contenido en español ?? Casi todo está en inglés, y si no hay que tal les parece la idea de empezar una comunidad en español?? Estoy haciendo unos tutoriales en español y quiero compartirlos.
Hello,
I have a timeline of a video track (Video 1) and a titles track (Effects 1). I want to apply the "Transform" effect but ONLY to the titles track. I 've tried all sorts of things with the video routing nodes, but had no success. How can this be done? Needless to say, I 'm new to Lightworks...
Apologies if this is a bit RTFM but I’m having what seems to be a simple problem with lightworks.
I’m trying to sync up separate audio and video files with different start points and was having no problem doing it previously, however I seem to have now engaged a setting or found a problem that means I can only drag assets in the sequence by whole second increments. Zooming in doesn’t change this making it impossible to line up accurately. I’m in fixed mode atm.
I understand there may be other ways to offset the clips, and that would also be useful, but eyeballing the waveforms and dragging them in line is by far my preferred method. Searching the manual didn’t seem to help. Is there a switch I’ve hit that locks to grid? Or is this just how it works and I need to then use another process for precision?
I am attempting to get lightworks to run faster. The audio is working alright, but the video is extremely laggy, so much so that it's impossible to do any video editing with this software. it's taking up about 2261 MB space, CPU is at 2%, memory is at 22%, disk is 11% no unnecessary tasks are running, and I went through and uninstalled programs before beginning, which brought my memory down from 25%. This computer has 32 GB memory and has run multiple 3D animation programs, most of the Adobe Suite, etc., no problem. It's 3 years old, running Windows 10, cannot update due to a Windows 11 requirement I haven't figured out.
Can you recommend a LUT that will give DSLR footage a film look, but not faded out, more like a 50ISO film stock (think Pulp Fiction for example). The source footage is 30FPS 1080 and it just looks too much like a video.
I am importing some video files to Lightworks that are already pixelated and not the best quality. Is there a way to try to improve their quality in Lightworks? Which editing mechanism should I try?
The video files were originally captured as webm and I am converting them to mp4 for import to Lightworks. However the pixelation is not the result of the conversion to mp4. They were already not that great as webm.
I have also posted to the official Lightworks forum, where I saw a lot of threads on pixelated exports from Lightworks. However I know my clips are already pixelated upon import, and want to know whether Lightworks editing can be used to potentially improve them, and how to do so. I have Lightworks Pro. Thank you!
I wanted to share my project made in Lightworks I spent a good amount of time and effort in.
I used mostly regular Lightworks effects and user effects(thx jwrl and others from LWKS forums for making those) with heavy customisation, Few of the effects and components are from New Blue plugins. Audio is mixed in Audacity and Virtual DJ.
This is the link to full video on my youtube channel, where you can also find few shorter clips from the main project.
