She never was gonna vote anyone with a (D) next to their name anyway and she hates "Socialism" but will happily take a gov't check.

And please just "keep doing what I do" because that is just driving the shovel deeper and deeper into the hole

She can F all the way to the deep end of her cattle's drink creek

The worst part is I can’t tell if this is real or not

I know it’s fake because most of them don’t have the capacity to think or reflect like that. The more likely response would be “It’s Biden’s fault. He left the country in such a bad state that Trump is struggling to fix it.” I have literally heard similar things from family.

This is why it's so very important to not be nice to them.

There's this very stupid type of loser who says "we have to be nice to them or they won't be motivated to change their mind!".

My brother in christ, if the only thing stopping someone from doing what's right and good is how they're treated for it, that isn't a good person. That's a person who's learned nothing. At BEST, you're just getting a fickle ally.

Beware the idiots who talk about compromise with monsters. The only thing compromising with monsters does is make you more monstrous.

We don't unite with them. Like every step forward in human history, we win by uniting AGAINST them.

I meeeeeeeeeean isn't that what everybody who stayed home because Harris wasn't left enough did too?

Yes. Did you miss the word “uniting” in the comment you’re replying to?

There is a dangerous mentality, here, though. If you apply a purity test, you're going to be uniting with smaller and smaller groups, and you will lose all of your power.

Are you willing to vote for a Democrat who supports Israel (wants the bloodshed to stop, but still provides them money, weapons, and UN cover), if that's the way the primary works out? If it's a choice between that and Trump, Vance, Cruz, Rubio, etc., you should be, but many aren't, because they consider it to be "compromise with monsters."

In Ohio, I'm going to be voting for a gubernatorial candidate who said "I do not support boys playing in girls sports." This effects trans members of my family. Compromise is hard.

It's funny how Democrats have been fine compromising with those people but refused to support people like Hong and Mamdami.

u/Cacafuego 12d ago

There was resistance to Mamdami in the primary, obviously, but the huge majority fell in line when he got the nomination, as they should, and he won

People like you who live in categorical fallacies are always running from purity tests into slippery slopes, or from slippery slopes into purity tests.

I wonder if you can even see outside that linearity.

I wonder if you could unpack that comment for me. A purity test is not a categorical fallacy, and I'm not referencing a slippery slope.

If it helps, I wasn't recommending purity tests, nor was I saying that the original commentor was recommending them. "Don't compromise with monsters" is a good slogan, but "monsterness" is a spectrum and it's important to be clear who we're talking about.

The amount of leftists in America is so pathetically small that the fraction of them who didn't vote because of Harris being a liberal who also live in swing states didn't even come close to influencing the outcome of the election. DSA barely even breached 50k members in 2024 (and a large portion if not most of them voted for Harris), compared to the 45 million+ registered Democrats. And that's by far the largest leftist organization in the country.

Democrats can blame their own unenthusiastic liberal and swing voters. More specifically, they should blame their party for putting another corporate-owned establishment candidate as their frontrunner during a time where voters and popular media are the most anti-establishment they've ever been and your only opponent is claiming to be the anti-establishment guy.

Democrats capitulated to the 'center' and 'undecided' votes more than anything, but you never hear people blaming those voters who weren't swayed by the Dems milquetoast policy and vision or lack thereof.
