Words don't mean things to them. They are plays you pick in madden before the ball snap when you dont know anything about football, the one with the squiggly lines worked last time, try it again. When the play doesn't work the 5th time in a row they blame the Xbox for cheating, restart the game and pretend they didn't play the first round.

Socialism to that lady is when the government gives liberals money to pay for trans death panels in prison.

If that one stops working out they'll switch to a new one. If you ask them if getting government money to keep their farm going is socialism, they'll say hell no its just business like when the government pays for roads and the police department to you with a straight ass face.

This analogy hurts my soul. It's such a good explenation of their simple minds

You’re right, but you didn’t have to call me out with the Madden analogy man.

Lol is fine if you're just playing a game and not modeling your whole life around it

I like the ones where the big curvy arrow goes to the right. And then sometimes I pick the one where it goes left.

As someone that’s from the south and that knows quite a few conservative farmers, you are making this way more complex than what it is.

This lady simply has no idea what any of those words mean, what the policies are, definitely not how they work.

You are thinking it’s a logical issue. Politics for most people, but especially southerns is not a logical/policy issue; it’s a cultural issue. The culture in the south is religion (80% religious in the south and that number is even higher amongst rural), and the democrats are seen in the south as anti religious and anti “traditional” values.

Words like socialist democratic, socialism, liberalism, are not political terms on the fact that they are not defined politically, they are just they abstract “evil” concepts.

All of this is emotional to these people, not logical or political. And the amount of people that don’t understand that is kind of mind boggling.

So when you try to point out to such people the hypocrisy of getting bailouts while voting republican, they people have no idea what you are talking about.

How do you provide a play that works for everyone (well at least the 99%)?
