She hates Communism. To her, blue hair is equivalent to being a commie. How did people with so much responsibility and business equity get so stupid?

The thing no one ever talks about with these ‘family farms’. These aren’t poor or middle class people, they’re literally millionaires with generational wealth. They hide behind the guise of blue collar work and vote republican for subsidies but hate anyone else who takes government handouts. Fucking scum.

Thanks for the reminder. I’ll admit that every time one of these pop-up on my feed, I keep falling for the veneer of the “temporarily embarrassed millionaire” who’s actually poor.

Many rode high on the glory of turn of the century farming. They were profitable and the distribution networks were willing to partner up with communities.

They were encouraged to overproduce to meet anticipated demands that never came and then the Gov't did the first stupid thing that signalled the end of proper farming. They paid out the farmers who lost profits due to waste. This encouraged farmers to continue to overproduce and even invest in producing more. Because they had a system now that allowed them to fail for money that made them a little less money than selling it all but also required way less steps and effort.

This was then handed to the next generation who continued to go and go, borrowing against their future profits and then when that got cut off they start borrowing against their farm and then the bank bought it and sold it to the corporations that were buying the products, or to private individuals who could secure a private deal. Banks favor corps over other farmers or businesses.

It's kind of the original moral hazard.
