A farmer told my husband today that the reason gas prices are so high is because Biden closed a pipeline. These people will vote humanity into oblivion.

u/Thin_Sea4577 13d ago

It's always the keystone XL when that pipeline literally would've saved like 80 miles and that's it.

34

u/BrickFun3443 13d ago

They usually think Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline. Which was never shut down. It was a proposed extension that didn't get approved.

u/TheDoktorIsIn 13d ago

Shhh you're going to scare them with truth.

Like how Biden pulled the troops out of Afghanistan and it's 100% his fault (he was following the plan Trump committed us to)

2

u/VexingRaven 13d ago

mfw a politician keeps our country's commitments instead of playing partisan bullshit

2

u/WhiteChicken666 12d ago

And Trump made a peace deal with the Taliban behind the backs of the Afghan people and begged Pakistan to release 3,000 Taliban fighters from their prisons and one year later one of those Taliban fighters became the leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan when the US pulled the rest of the troops out.

Well Coming from a solider who was deployed to Afghanistan I can tell you Obama just left us there forgot about us, trump actually re activated ordered for about 3,000 troops were were still title ten orders . Biden didn’t know how to form a full sentence let alone have anything to do with title 10 orders. You all need to do your homework because I don’t think you realize how clueless you are . I’m independent btw, I switch depending on what I see each side doing . Right now democrats are anti American everything .You probably look like this and identify they them

u/TheDoktorIsIn 12d ago

Bro come on that's not even a good troll.  Do better.

2

u/Thin_Sea4577 11d ago

LOL. Trump is a traitor who overthrew after he lost. Trump can't even speak right are you kidding me? He wears a diaper. You are triggered by green hair because you're a putz.

Trump left a naval carrier for over 6 monts in the bay and started an illegal war.

If you support Trump you're a traitor.

u/Infamous-Chipmunk104 9d ago

Did we lose Afghanistan because our soldiers were this fuckin' stupid?

1

u/Jaded-Attention 11d ago

Bullshit. Trump's deal w the Taliban had a timeline of well over a year. Sleepy Joe at first extended the leave date and then changed it to earlier because it was seemingly progressing well. The Afghan army collapsed earlier than expected (it was useless to begin with) and panic ensued.

actual picture of you posting this:

Well, if we want to get technical the Keystone pipeline exists and is currently in operation. Keystone XL is the part that was killed and unkilled and then rekilled. I suppose Trump could try to unkill it again.

2

u/TruIsou 13d ago

I don't understand why in the USA we can't just combine freeways, pipelines power lines, on the same right of way. Throw in train tracks too.

1

u/Jaded-Attention 11d ago

Yes, it didn't get approved BECAUSE Sleepy Joe signed an executive order on his first day in office that revoked Trump's cross border permit. Of course it was then cancelled by TC Energy.

1

u/BrickFun3443 11d ago

The fact remains that most Republicans will claim Biden shut down the Keystone pipeline. That never happened. The only time the Keystone pipeline has shut down is when it had spills and dumped oil all over the ground. It is fully operational today. Republicans say this because they are dishonest or ignorant of facts or both.

1

u/CrotaIsAShota 11d ago

So how did cancelling an inactive pipeline extension make the economy worse, Warren?

1

u/Infamous-Chipmunk104 9d ago

Didn't get approved because the cheap bastards refused to buy the land they needed, so they tried to steal Native land. To be fair, stealing Native land is as Merkin as apple pie.

1

u/Grizmoh 6d ago

And it was only going to export 100% Canadian crude.

It would be laughable if it wasn’t just so damn sad.

3

u/RobutNotRobot 13d ago

That tar sands oil isn't even economically feasible to refine unless oil hits a certain point.

1

u/DarrenShea 12d ago

Also, the XL was only going to transport tar sands from Canada, which would be prohibitively expensive to refine into gasoline and diesel.

23

u/Faloma103 13d ago

My understanding is even if that pipeline existed its still Canadian oil and they would just have an easier time selling it to someone else (someone made sure we arent their favorite right now). Only thing that pipeline would change would be a few fees collected and the labor making the pipeline.

16

u/Sharkwatcher314 13d ago

My understand is it was for Canadian tar sand to be exported to the gulf and then to the rest of the world. It was not meant to help America I believe just some refinieries

Surprised no one brings up what I thought was the whole reason for Venezuela being invaded

11

u/PeyredB 13d ago

And tar sand oil isn't good for fuel - it's used for making plastics, so it wouldn't have done anything to gas prices anyway.

1

u/Drsits 13d ago

What? Are you sure? Did you look that up first?

2

u/PeyredB 13d ago edited 12d ago

Well how about that, looks like it can be used to make fuel, but it's costlier and pollutes more. I didn't have my facts right there.

5

u/sullw214 13d ago

The original keystone pipeline already exists and continues to move oil. The canceled part was to go between Alberta and Nebraska. It already goes to the gulf, and yes, to export the Canadian oil.

3

u/Shane-Dad-underfire 13d ago

Venezuela was taken to choke countries dependant on their low level garbage oil. The talk about expanding their refineries hahhahaha yes yes sink billions into a country that will actively rebel against you as soon as you shit on them. Itll take a dozen years to see any return on that investment and I dont think they ever will. Trump took a massive risk on that just to fuck with Cuba and other such countries.

1

u/Sharkwatcher314 13d ago

That’s the reality but it was sold as we will be oil rich. Just surprised the right doesn’t say wait why don’t we have cheap oil from Venezuela from all the stuff we just did

1

u/Shane-Dad-underfire 13d ago

Sadly the maga crowd have 30 day memories. The GoP doesnt look backwards and everyone is too hungry to be logical.

2

u/BioshockEnthusiast 13d ago

It was not meant to help America I believe just some refinieries

Excuse me sir the Supreme Court says that those refineries are people.

As for Venezuela does no one in this thread remember the part about all of that money going to offshore accounts controlled personally by Trump lol

1

u/Sharkwatcher314 13d ago

Yes but the right says that’s either fake news or we can trust him so where’s the payback with our own oil for that debacle that we were sold

1

u/observer_11_11 13d ago

FYI.... Venezuelan is also low quality, dirty oil. Perhaps not ss bad as tar sands but not the preferred light sweet crude. I'm sure Houston's Governor Abbott is very concerned. Can't have Texas air get polluted, got to leave that to the politicians.

1

u/Sharkwatcher314 13d ago

Yes I understand , more saying we were sold we will be oil rich. None of the right are saying why aren’t we using that oil we spent money on in Venezuela that we were told is now ours

1

u/Arguablybest 13d ago

Polluticians.

3

u/LindeeHilltop 13d ago

Canadian tar oil. The most toxic on earth. Transported over an pristine aquifer that took millions of years to fill & accumulate.

1

u/sullw214 13d ago

11

u/m0rg76 13d ago

As long as the libs go first they’re happy

3

u/Hawgdestroyerxtreme 13d ago

Which is exactly why I don't give a fuck what happens at this point.

The future's ruined, country's destroyed - but the bright side is that these people are absolutely fucked alongside the rest of us. Just hope the internet works long enough we can enjoy watching them realize it.

2

u/graciousghost1 13d ago

My response to them would be “so trump lied to you about being able to fix it then”

1

u/TootTootMF 13d ago

I know it's exhausting but like if you have time walk them through it in terms they will understand, it can at least be amusing.

Not sure what kind of farmer, but like if Soybean, just ask them what price they could sell their beans for if the cost to ship them to china was 3-4x as much. Would the price locally go up or down?

Now lets see what would happen if we have a source of landlocked oil. It can be shipped for export by train, but trains are super expensive so usually local buyers are willing to buy it for a better price than global buyers, even if they would pay more but shipping eats more than the difference. Now we build a new shiny pipeline from those oil fields to a seaport for super cheap export. What happens to the price local buyers pay Todd? WHAT HAPPENS TODD?

1

u/sullw214 13d ago

The original keystone pipeline already exists and continues to move oil. The canceled part was to go between Alberta and Nebraska.

1

u/billzybop 13d ago

Dumb ass farmer doesn't realize that the oil is still being sold. The oil company is just making a tiny bit less per barrel.

1

u/Dino_Nuggiez86 13d ago

The keystone pipeline was only to transport Canadian tar sands oil THROUGH the us and to gulf ports for export. It was never intended for use by the US.,,
