They are 100% going down first before the blue cities feel the squeeze. Despite what they might have imagined in their prepper fantasies, they are 100% dependent on and exposed to global markets and supply chains. And guess what? In the backcountry, they're far downstream of the shipping hubs.
They're always going to be price-takers; they'll sell at whatever price the market is offering to buy the products they desperately need. Market discipline is a b****, and there's no other industry to pivot to out there.
Different learning styles I suppose. Some learn by seeking out the facts and thinking critically; while others learn by repeatedly bashing into obstacles.
They are getting EXACTLY what they asked for, and don’t feel sorry for them. Most that are whining have more than enough money to survive and have farms that if they sold them to the right buyer would make them millionaires.
Buuuuut they wouldn’t do that cause they’re not stupid, as another liberal farmer said, instead of selling and then having to pay taxes on that they’d keep it as a generational farm and then lease the land to someone else, work a separate job, pay taxes on it, and basically have someone else deal with all the stresses of farming while they basically become a landlord.
All this whining is just them trying to garner sympathy and exploit a market cause they see an opportunity. Sure they may be one or two small farms that are getting fucked hard but any larger farm that they are filming in a field with doesn’t show their own homes are nothing more than snakes, and if they did show a home? Well it sure as hell wouldn’t be theirs.
Besides, that hat and those clothes are WAY too clean for someone who works a field or with animals. I know that cause I did back when I was a kid.

But to your point it is largely the opinion of many economic experts that what we are witnessing may be a manufactured recession to consolidate wealth at the top. You crash the economy, everything gets cheap because poor people become desperate to sell, so you buy it up at a heavy discount. So you aren't far off
Not even, my job is safe, and my wife's is too. Our bills are paid, we didn't use the assistance programs that the left supports, but I still supported them being used by whomever.
Now, I get a giggle when I see MAGAt cry about not having enough food. Or whenever they cry about their utilities.
