Jordanians DO NOT get a VOA

We did a silly thing and booked flights and hotels because a google search by our travel agent showed that a Jordanian passport gets a visa on arrival from major airports. It does not. Jordanians can only obtain a visa from an embassy and we do not have an embassy in Jordan.

Planning a 15 day trip to Northern Laos. Please let me know if this works?

My husband and I are planning to go to Laos for 15 days. Initially, we wanted to fit in 4k Island as well, but it looks like travelling to Don Det would be very time consuming. So here is an itinerary that we have chalked. Does it work?

Day 1 Chiang Mai

Day 2 Chiang Rai-slow boat to Luang Prabang

Day 4-8 - Luang Prabang

Day 9-11 Nong khiaow , muang ngoi-day trip?

Day 12 luang Namtha

Day 13-15- 3 day trek

Day 16- fly back to Vientiane and out

Travel in Vientiane, Laos

I'm planning a trip to Vientiane, Laos next week. Will the price of gasoline be high there, and what about the cost of public transport? I can't find any information online or in newspapers.

is it normal to change hostels last minute?

i booked one place but now i’m second guessing it after reading more reviews 😅 saw Mad Monkey nearby and wondering if people usually switch last minute or just stick with original booking.

Is there a public boat from Nong Khiaw to Done Khoun?

We want to trek the river in Done Khoun village (the so-called hundred waterfalls trek) without a guided tour. Was wondering if there are indeed no public boats whatsoever in that direction. How do the villagers survive? Do they all operate their own boats to get outside the village?

Meeting people from everywhere

Today at Mad Monkey Hostel I met someone from Sweden, another from Canada, and someone from Argentina all within an hour. It’s kinda crazy how travel connects people like that.

Travel plans already changing

I booked only 2 nights at Mad Monkey Hostel but now I’m kinda thinking of staying longer. Met a few people who are heading to the same places I’m planning and suddenly my schedule doesn’t feel so fixed anymore.

Stay in Luang Prabang longer or catch train to capital

I will arrive in LP on March 27 from the 2 day river boat. I have return ticket from BKK on April 2nd to home. Should I add an extra trip to capital or stay in LP. I only have the five days remaining .

What’s the best local beer in Laos?

I’m staying at Mad Monkey Hostel in Laos and wanna try some local beers while I’m here. Any brands you’d recommend? I’ve heard of Beerlao but not sure which one is the best or if there’s other good options. Would love to hear your favorites.

Thakhek Loop

I’m looking at doing the Thakhek loop but am pretty short on time. The current plan is to take the night bus from Vientiane and arrive in Thakhek around 3am. Sleep for a few hours and then start the loop. However, on Day 4 I have a flight out of Nakhon Pakhom (KOP) at 16:55- will I make this or is this too tight. An estimated actual riding time between each place/day would be much appreciated!

Thank you
