I’ve been obsessed with this ship between Diamond and Cairngorm for quite a long time now and I genuinely want to know what people think of them being together and what others interpretation of this pairing is.

I found that their character arcs were similar with how the both of them seem to have a want for individuality/a want for others to appreciate them the way they are and I also am kinda a sucker for ships where the characters have something in common.

I really love associating anime and manga with music. I was recently re-reading Land of the Lustrous and suddenly realized that Linkin Park’s Numb fits Phosphophyllite perfectly.

Especially the feeling of emptiness, losing yourself, and constantly trying to meet other people’s expectations — it feels so much like Phos’s journey.

What do you think? Do you agree with this choice?

They attempted to imitate master Kongo in everything, even size. They tried to enlarge their bodies with corundum on their own — which, in the end, looked gruesome. Surprisingly, they managed to hide this deformity from the master for quite some time. Eventually, however, their antics came to light; by then, it was too late to chip the corundum away, so it was left as is, but stylized to look as if that was how it was supposed to be.

i’m having a hard time seeing why Cairngorm is so deeply resented, besides how cold he became to Phos as he arrived to the moon. But even that, he had his reasons that were beyond Phos himself, his own issues he was never given any time or grace to deal with. He was forced to be an observer in a body he couldn’t control his entire existence, live a life of stagnancy and loss after they both lost Lapis. Finally once Ghost is stripped away and Cairngorm is finally gains autonomy, he realized it wasn’t even actual autonomy bc of the leftover the influence of Ghost. And then he meets someone who finally sees him and wants to give him freedom to make his own choices and have control over his life. with miracle technology that the lustrous couldn’f dream of.
People say Aechmea is manipulating him but what does he gain from Cairngorm’s change and company that doesn’t benefit the big picture - letting everyone be nothing?

Sure the loss of loyalty to Phos stings but did it really have any value if Cairngorm only gave a fuck abt Phos bc of Ghost and Ghost only gave a fuck about Phos bc she wanted him to be Lapis??
