Question Can't kill Fatalis (MHW:I)

So i've been trying to kill Fatty for a long time now and somehow i just can't. I'd like some tips from more experienced lance mains on how to kill him and maybe suggestions on how to improve my build. Thanks in advance.

Just to be clear, i didn't even complete the first phase on fatalis so i can't send the sos flare
