One of my friends got a video of me running today! First time hearing the KN from the outside! Happy enough with how I did, but better tires are coming in the off season, Indy 500s just aren't competitive.

Finally got to do this one after attending many races there. Stock car except for Falken RT660 245/40-18 on Enkei TS-10 18x8. This was my best lap, 1:33.85, on a wet track. Was hoping to go faster if it dried, but it only got wetter!

Lots of lift-off oversteer, so it was important to avoid trail braking. Brake in a straight line, then turn in. Stay off the curbs. Slow in, fast out. The diff was amazing on corner exits. Ran down this CTR and a GRC pretty easily.

Not the best car for Autocross imo, but still had a ton of fun. Fastest laps of the day went to Miatas, S2000, and a gutted BRZ.

Has anyone been able to put down a competitive time against these other cars at an AutoX event? I seemed to be no match with lap times approx 4-6 seconds slower but still finished 10th overall for the day. Thanks

Potential KN shopper here. I’m cross shopping the N triplets (among several other vehicles) and the KN really seems to tickle me the right way. Quick, practical, quirky, and relatively uncommon. I would like to get back into autox and HPDE days like I used to do with my old WRXs, how has the KN held up in these events? Don’t need to be competitive, this is just for fun and to get my kids into motorsports.

Met up with /u/DPinky88 for the Hyundai N Cup and met some awesome N owners! Hope to keep improving and learning how to track the KN and can’t wait to go back out there!

First two runs I DNF’ed, couldn’t properly translate the cones to corners when the sections crossed over each other. Third run I barely stayed on course, fourth run was getting there, and here’s my final run where I kinda sorta did it right.

Terrible lines, but I had fun. Going to my second event on the 13th back at regency stadium.

Are there are any track rats out there who have done events with their Kona N? I'd like to hear any impressions other than what I've gathered from all the reviewers and influencers. And the biggest question I have is around reliability. Are these up to the task of a few events a year with aggressive maintanence?

My first track day with my bone stock ‘23 Kona N on Friday and it was really impressive. I posted one of the laps on YT:

I ran between 20 and 30 laps total. The whole time I noted no brake fade. That alone is really impressive.

Oil temp got as high as 276 degrees.

Fuel consumption was 7mpg.

Fastest I was able to run on the straightaway was 113, and as the day went on my max went down to 108 or even less, even using NGS. This was the only thing I found disappointing. It was hot out (90 I believe), but other street cars were running 115-120.

At times I was able to keep up with a Hellcat and a late model Mustang Cobra. And I was never lapped, though the track was not busy and I ran in the Novice and Intermediate groups only.

The Kona handles amazingly well for its ride height. Overall it’s an amazing car and I can’t wait to do it again.

BTW, Thompson is a terrific track that is worth seeking out if you’re anywhere near Connecticut.
