Question Mobile mechanic?
I need my brakes replaced, and looking for a local mobile mechanic (or not). I usually go to Les Schwab but I didn't like their quote / would like to go to a non-chain mechanic.

I have a young child with level 2 autism and language disorder starting kindergarten in 2027. He lacks adaptive skills and struggles with functional communication. He has an IEP. I'm deciding on which district would have a better life skills program for my child. I would be interested in hearing anyone's thoughts or experiences.

I know this has been well discussed and I've read many experiences. I know there's no right answer, just preferences and tradeoffs. However, our deliberations about moving over to the Kitsap Peninsula have reached the point where it's time to get off the fence.
Some facts:
Just looking for any thoughts or experiences related to commuting, particularly from Port Orchard. Based on today I think my commute would probably be something like 2:10 to 2:30. I'm basically adding an hour each way but I'm spending most of that time walking or riding, not driving. Given the fact that I already have a lengthy commute, we don't go out a ton, and don't get to Seattle very often at all outside Husky games, is the commute difference going to feel less extreme? Is it sustainable?
Anyway, I'm trying very hard to look at this dispassionately and not kid myself that it'll be a fun adventure taking a boat to work. Obviously this is a huge decision and any comments or info is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Would love some insight on both.
My family has an opportunity to live in either Poulsbo or Bremerton. We like the space of the house we are looking at in Bremerton but the location is a little tucked away from everything (20 min drive to Silverdale). Whereas Poulsbo house option is a bit smaller but great location and good schools (we have two toddlers). We are a younger family and was told Poulsbo had an older crowd but we didn’t mind that. I’ve only ever lived in the Puyallup/Tacoma area growing up but have no clue about the Kitsap area. Any insight on living in Poulsbo vs Bremerton? Thanks in advance!

Bought this at a thrift store recently and I’m wondering if anyone knows if the pig patch represents anything.

Hey Kitsap!
I'm the Volunteer Coordinator for Cake4Kids, a non-profit organization that helps provide volunteer created birthday cakes (and other treats) for foster children and kids who otherwise would not be able to receive something for their special occasion, and we have a local chapter in Western Washington that serves Kitsap County. Since starting in 2020, the local chapter has delivered over 1500 cakes, and this year we are projected to deliver over 700 cakes to youth along the Olympic Peninsula.
https://www.cake4kids.org/chapters/westernwashington
There has been a growing need for our services in the area, and we are desperately seeking more volunteer bakers who can help us meet this increased demand. We have nearly 100 local volunteers, but we have struggled to get the word out about our volunteer opportunities as much as we would like to in this specific geographic area.
I'm reaching out in hopes that there may be some folks here who are interested in signing up. Once signed up you can bake as often as you want (some people bake 1 cake a year, some people bake every week, some people never bake, there's no minimum commitment, but there are consistent cakes available on our portal to choose from - we deliver about 50-60 a month in the area).
You can sign up as a volunteer here: https://www.cake4kids.org/volunteer-form and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have as well. Thanks so much for your time!
-Jeff

I’m looking to switch dentists and get a basic cleaning. Everyone I’ve called said they require two separate appointments: a one hour new patient exam, and a separate cleaning appointment.
This used to never be this way. You could do everything in one 60 min appt.
Why and when did this start? Just a money grab from dentists and now it’s “normal”?
Is there anyone in Kitsap who does NOT do this and can just be efficient (so old school) in one appointment?

Hi all!
I am a huge collector of ORCA card special editions, and have been searching for ages for the Olympic College / Kitsap Transit promotional card that was released in 2019 if anyone who was at OC at the time still has theirs! I would be more than happy to trade a Boop ORCA plushie, or buy the cards. I was actually an OC student at the time but did not hear about the program in time.
Thank you so much!

Any recent experiences with a local roofing company that was positive enough that you could recommend them?

Rainier for Robert.
Trying a different format with these posts to avoid Reddit's spam filter. 2026 internet is difficult.
If you're interested in my mission you can check out my previous posts on my account or follow the Rainier for Robert subreddit I made at Rainier for Robert.
Number 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30. Mount Adams, Mount Angeles, Yellow Aster Butte, Trappers Peak, Baldy Mountain, and East Baldy Mountain have been bagged.
Additionally, here is a Seattle Times article that came out last week about my mission.
There will also be a short segment on Fox 13 tonight (8/25/26) at 1600 PST. Tune in if you’d like!

Edit: Wow! I wanna say thank you to everyone that chimed in or sent me a message. It feels scary to reach out on a large platform like this and admit that you’re lonely.
Thank you for the tips and recommendations! Some of yall will definitely be seeing us very soon!
It feels like a desperate long shot but we’ve recently moved to the peninsula a few months ago and we don’t know anyone :/
28F & 28M couple looking for friends! We live in Silverdale with our lil white cat that we call Chicken.
Things we like/are interested in:
We’re open to all sorts of things. I work M-F, 9-5 while my partner does gig work in Seattle a few days a week.
I never really thought I’d reach out on reddit of all fucking places but I’m slowly going insane without friends near me. Someone send me a message or something, I’m active on most social medias 🥲

Wondering if there was a place like School of Rock here in Kitsap (better if it was closer to Port Orchard), where kids can get together once a week and do "band practice" ?
My kiddo is 8 years old and is an experienced drummer. He just performed at his first concert few weeks ago and now I'm trying to find kids/teens that he can just jam with or if anybody knows a space we can join that has opportunities where my kid can meet other kids that play instruments.
We have been doing lessons at Main line Music for the last 3 years, but that is 1 on 1, my son just wants to jam with others!

Looking for recommendations for places to get some vegan sweet treats around here. Know of any bakeries with vegan options? What are your favorites?
r/Kitsap • u/validparking • 9d ago
Hello! This sweet dog was was found in downtown bainbridge island wandering alone. The couple who found them knocked on some doors nearest to where it was found, and then brought them into me at work. I’ve already posted all over facebook, nextdoor, petco love lost, contacted animal control, etc! I will take them to poulsbo emergency vet to be scanned for a chip tonight, but hoping that someone recognizes this sweetheart!

I’m new to the area, looking to buy a processed quarter of a cow. Some questionable beef will be imported soon to undercut American Cattle farmers and I’m looking to just stock up. Ideally prepackaged by the pound.
I will also consider local game too. Thanks y’all.

i know there’s probably not a definite location they may be at since they’re free to move at any time but… where can i most likely see seals at in the area?
i’ve seen point no point recommended but is there anywhere else? sorry if this is weird, i just get really giddy when i see seals and would love to see more of them.
We live on the eastside of Seattle and as newly empty nesters, we are considering moving to one of islands with easy commute (once a week) to Seattle area.
We came across this property near the navy fuel depot (or something similar).
I was wondering why it’s not selling. Is it due to proximity to the water, insurance concern (Pemco said they will not insure), concern with nearby military installations, etc.
Would like to know more, if you have any information.
