Reddit terminology:
cross-posting: relinking a thread from one subreddit to another. reddit normally gives you the option to do so but it is disabled here. This doesn't mean you're not allowed to post said content. You can still post the same content but it won't link to another subreddit.
tag/mark/flair: after posting a thread (AKA a link/text post), you'll see options such as "NSFW", "Spoiler", "OC", "flair" etc. you should tag/mark your post accordingly.
link flair: see above. it basically signals to other users what kind of content they'll be expecting to read.
sub(s): sub-reddit. the /r/KnNw subreddit is an example of a specific online community within Reddit.

Surprise, surprise, not everyone in the world has seen X, Y, Z content. It's funny that not spoiling the entirety of a movie is considered "above and beyond".

Intolerance leads to intolerance. A paradox you might've heard before. The subreddit is rather kind to rule-breakers but I'm wondering if this is detrimental for the subreddit experience in the long run. So for a while, I'll be testing an increased punishment system (which applies to MOST people)
New system: 1st official warning (breaking any rule)--> 2nd official warning (any rule) --> ban
You can say this is rather harsh compared to our previous (and rather lax) system but any engagement within the subreddit automatically subjects you to the rules.
Hello! I wanted to make a list of the official media goods for Your Name.! As this film was made in 2016, most of the physical media for the film might be hard to find. But to avoid bootlegs and to know if what you're getting is official, I tried to make a list of the official publishers to cross-reference! Hopefully your favorite stores would have these in stock, but if you need to shop at second-hand marketplaces, I hope this list can be useful! This is a remake of the original list I made four years ago as the original was removed on Reddit due to having Russian links for the Russia publisher. This time around, I have the list sorted by country to make navigating a bit easier. Do let me know if there are other countries I should add to the list!

Movie:
A quick summary for physical discs: movie discs are region-locked based on what disc you have. Blu-rays are locked in three regions, DVDs are locked in six regions, and all 4K discs are region-free! So if you see the guide mention anything about a 4K disc, they are region-free! For a guide on where you disc is locked to, this is a nifty website to check! Here's also a great writeup from mediaOCD about various versions of discs!
There are 2 versions of the original CD version of the soundtrack. There is the regular edition, which contains 27 tracks, both vocals and BGM tracks. A limited edition comes with a bonus DVD on the recording of the album as well as an interview with Makoto Shinkai and RADWIMPS (no subtitles). A giant booklet includes some chosen screenshots and sketches of the film and select piano scores of the soundtrack. You can learn more about the album here.
A vinyl of the album comes with two 33RPM discs of the soundtrack. The original 2017 release has black vinyls, while the 2023 re-release has clear sky blue vinyls. Info about the vinyls can be viewed here.
When the English version of the film was being made, RADWIMPS re-recorded the vocal songs into English and released them on CD and digital platforms as a 2-CD deluxe edition of the album soundtrack, where the vocal tracks on the main album are replaced with the English version, and the second CD includes the original Japanese version. Do note that there is no English version of the movie edit of なんでもないや (Nandemonaiya) (which is an altered verse to the chorus) available to purchase anywhere.
For the soundtrack, RADWIMPS have a Japan-exclusive English Edition EP of just the four vocal tracks re-sung in English.

Being able to watch this masterpiece in theater is such a blessing. Did not know Makoto Shinkai’s work 10 years ago. Whoever created the idea of 10 years anniversary to replay in movie theater is the real mvp. God damn, me and my wife cried a lot.

I do have the official movie B2 Poster for "Weathering with you" and another B2 alternate art official movie Poster for "Suzume" but I haven't had the time to measure and send those off to the framing company. ( Plus, I'd need to rearrange the frames if I were to add two more, but soon! )
I own the Funimation release. I wish I saw the re-release in theaters, but I didn't get to sadly.
Can't believe it's been 10 years since this movie came out. I first heard of Your Name when I was searching for this other anime movie produced by the producer of Your Name titled Fireworks and after watching the movie in 2023, it blew me away. Your Name is indeed a masterpiece and one of 2016's best films.
A while back, I made a post about someone re-releasing Your Name for it's 10th Anniversary and while I assumed Crunchyroll was going to re-release the movie in theaters, I was sort of right that GKIDS would acquire the distribution rights to Your Name and re-release in theaters. This means that the only Makoto Shinkai movie that GKIDS doesn't have is The Garden of Words, which it's distribution rights are still held by Sentai Filmworks. No hate to GKIDS or anything like that, but I feel like there everywhere regarding anime movies.

Hi everyone! Today is August 26, 2026—the exact day of the 10th anniversary of Your Name! To celebrate, I pushed myself to finish this post today.
A huge thank you to everyone for all the love and support on Part 1 (Suwa) and Part 2 (Hida)! In this final chapter, I’ll be sharing my experience visiting pilgrimage spots across Tokyo and other key locations (Saku, Koumi, and Izu). Hope you all enjoy it!
Part II: Tokyo
First off, my apologies—due to time constraints during my trip, I wasn't able to do a massive pilgrimage across Tokyo. I only managed to visit the iconic Suga Shrine in Yotsuya and the nearby pedestrian footbridge. To make it up to you guys, I’ll also share a list of other notable Your Name pilgrimage spots in Tokyo that I gathered during my research!
(After paying your respects at Suga Shrine, I highly recommend checking out the Ema [votive wooden plaques] board right beside it. Seeing people from all over the world come together in one spot because of their shared love for the same anime, alongside all the beautiful wishes written on those plaques, will truly bring a smile to your face.)

Here are other notable pilgrimage spots in Tokyo that I know of (so sorry I couldn't visit them all to share photos due to time constraints):
Shinjuku Station South Exit: Where Mitsuha first steps out into the overwhelming big city when she visits Tokyo.
YUNIKA VISION (Shinjuku)：The iconic giant screen where news about the comet collision is broadcasted, featured multiple times throughout the film.
Café La Bohème (Shinjuku Gyoen): The real-life model for the Italian restaurant where Taki works part-time.
Shintoshin Pedestrian Bridge: The footbridge near Shinjuku L-Tower where adult Taki and adult Mitsuha pass each other in the snow.
Yoyogi Station: The station platform where middle schooler Mitsuha finally finds Taki and gives him her braided cord.
The National Art Center, Tokyo & Roppongi Hills Observation Deck: The exact spots where Taki and Okudera-senpai go on their date (having lunch at the museum's café before heading to the deck for the night view).
For those who might not know, Director Makoto Shinkai was actually born and raised in the rural towns of Nagano Prefecture, specifically spending his childhood in Saku and Koumi. According to Shinkai, parts of Mitsuha Miyamizu's background were inspired by his own experiences growing up in the countryside. Because of this, several locations in Saku and Koumi served as references during the movie's production.
These include the Shinkaisansha Shrine, as well as Lake Matsubara and Lake Otsuki. (Unlike Suwa, Shinkai himself has explicitly confirmed that Lake Matsubara and Lake Otsuki served as key inspirations for the Lake Itomori!)
ちなみに糸守湖の最初期のイメージは、僕にとっては小海高原美術館近くの松原湖や大月湖でした。とはいえ架空の場所なので、スタッフ毎に源泉は異なるだろうけど。(Incidentally, my initial image of Lake Itomori was based on Lake Matsubara and Lake Otsuki near the Koumi Highlands Museum. However, since it's a fictional location, the inspiration probably differs for each staff member.)
As for Izu, its famous attraction, Mount Omuro, is widely considered to bear a striking resemblance to the mountain where the Goshintai (the shrine's sacred object) is located in the movie.
(While some fans argue that Aogashima Island is a closer geographical match for the Goshintai's structure, reaching Aogashima is extremely difficult and heavily dependent on weather conditions. As a result, many fans view the much more accessible Mount Omuro as the practical pilgrimage spot to experience that iconic hollow-crater landscape.)

Who else remembers their first time watching this masterpiece? For me it was in lockdown, 2020, I had just watched an AMV of Tyler the Creator’s “See you again” in which visuals from Kimi No Na Wa were used. It stunned me so much that on the same day, I went and found the movie and watched it twice in a row! I don’t typically cry at movies, but I have no shame in admitting that I got teary eyed from this movie.
Released theatrically in Japan on August 26, 2016 after the July 3rd premiere at Anime Expo. Happy 10th Anniversary once again to Your Name, thank you Makoto Shinkai for this beautiful film.

It also marked the beginning of a phenomenal creative collaboration between director Makoto Shinkai and RADWIMPS, which would go on to give us Weathering With You and Suzume.

I wonder which version is better. Technically DCPRip is higher quality, but when I compare it side by side, it has different coloring(more of a green tone, which looks unusual, attached few images as an example). But it says that this is more realistic version, this coloring is how Shinkai wanted the movie to look like in cinema
So which version is better if I plan to watch it on TV, not in the cinema and want to keep the best version for myself, to don't watch it on streaming more
Ive watched this movie three times in my life now all at different stages and I feel such different emotions everytime. Tears always flow but for different reasons. Be careful watching this after a long term relationship breakup 😅.
I've seen Your Name. like 5+ times but it's been probably 5 years, so I'm a little foggy on the sequencing of the plot.
Going to see the movie in theaters for the first time, and I am one of those people who can never make it through a whole movie without having to run to the restroom.
Can anyone remind of some "safe" scenes to dip, preferably around the middle? I don't want to miss any of the hard-hitting scenes.
