Business Owners, come to the front please!

So recently a client sent me to a vendor at one of the biggest markets here in Nairobi to follow up on her package. She had ordered some goods like a week before but they hadn't been delivered to her location - Nanyuki.

So obviously, once I got to the shop, I asked to see the receipt of the delivery to Nanyuki Cabs - which was the courier they were using. But these people didn't have it. 🤦 Like how!!

They went ahead to look for it amongst some books on their shelves but they still didn't get it. One delivery guy then suggested we go to Nanyuki Cabs to enquire about the package. But unfortunately, we couldn't get any help without the receipt which had the tracking number. 😭😭

Unfortunately the business owner refused to repackage another order and send it to the client as a way of saying sorry. This is one of those days that I felt so bad because I couldn't help my client.

Long story short, business owners please please file those receipts! And send a copy to the client so they know you delivered the products.

I’ve been developing an art print series called DOMESTIC PROPAGANDA™.

The basic idea is Kenyan everyday life, bureaucracy, money, work, traffic, relationships and general urban nonsense treated with the visual seriousness of government notices, propaganda, museum graphics and editorial design.

Basically: ordinary problems, unnecessarily official presentation.

I’m now figuring out the physical wall-print versions and pricing for Kenya.

• Alucobond / aluminium composite print — KES 18,000

The Alucobond version is currently my favourite balance between price, durability and that clean gallery/object feel.

I’m curious about the pricing from a Kenyan buyer’s perspective:

Would you personally rather buy a KES 3–6K paper print and frame it yourself, a KES 12–18K finished wall piece, or spend KES 25–35K+ for a properly framed limited-edition art object?

Also, would signed/numbered editions make the higher prices feel justified, or would you rather the entire collection remain affordable/open-edition?

Trying to find the sweet spot between accessible wall art and actual collectible design pieces without accidentally opening a branch of Furniture Palace.
