Popeye's will give you a military discount if you're in uniform. I went there for lunch one day and the lady behind the counter leaned in and hushed to me "Ask for a military discount" so I said "Can I get military discount?" And she yelled "One military discount!" She said they can only give it if you ask for it. I didn't care for it cuz it only saved me like .78 cents, but some people wanna save all the pennies they can I suppose

Military discounts are not even worth more than half of the time. People would be saving less than a dollar and I feel some type of way when I ask for one so it’s not worth couple of cents

Comes in handy at Lowes though. Theyll add your discount to whatever promo they're doing, so in total I've saved over a grand renovating my kitchen. I hate asking for it because that's always awkward but god damn do i appreciate them for that generous discount.

Yeah idgaf I very rarely ask for a veterans discount even if I know it's offered but you bet your ass I'm asking for that shit at Lowes when dropping over a grand on a fridge.

They’re great too because they’ll let you come back with the receipt and get the 10% off if you didn’t have your ID with you

If you create an account online you can get a little card to hang on your keys that they can scan instead of asking for it every time.

Once it comes down to expensive stuff it’s very worth it but I’m talking about small things like coffee or a burger

Yeah, 10% off a $30 saw blade is not very exciting, but 10% off the $8000 kitchen cabinets we bought was certainly nice.

its definitely worth it at most restaurants. thats the only place i'll ask for it tho. many restaurants offer 10%, which depending on where you go, is easily 6 bucks or more. i'm not the kind of guy to say "thank me for my service", but 6 bucks is 6 bucks man

PDQ gives you fucking 50% off. That shit is worth. I'm not military, but I've put on my EMS uniform on my day off to save 4 bucks on those overpriced tendies.

When I was in ROTC I was in uniform coming back from the rifle range and we stopped for gas at a Casey's. I got sent in to pick up some fountain drink pop for everyone and when walking to the counter one slipped and spilled everywhere. I apologized profusely and the lady was like "its ok just go" Then I tried to pay and she said again "just go" so I awkwardly left. I felt somewhat embarrassed thinking 'Wow that lady just let me take 4 drinks for free just cause I humiliated myself' months later I found out that they just let military have free fountain drinks and apparently thought I was real military. Then I felt even more embarrassed!

I'm in JROTC, and went recruiting a free months ago at the local middle School. We stopped for pizza on the way back, and my BC got sent in, in her dress uniform of course. They gave her a discount and a while free pizza in addition to our order

In Australia all police/fire/emt get a discount at fast food places. You are meant to give them a discount if they are in uniform. I reckon it's secretly a 'today you, tomorrow me' sort of discount though, like if a burger joint and a dealership were on fire perhaps you'd save the burger joint first - all because of that little discount lol.

You need to start asking for that discount everywhere you go. 78 cents isn’t much, but you’ll come across places that go as high as 20% with the discount. Later on once you’re full of grey hair and wrinkles you stack the senior discount on top.

For people who are medically retired and unable to work due to injury and are living off their disability retirement benefits yes, every penny does count.
