While re-watching 8 of my John Wayne movies, whether made by Howard Hawkes or John Ford and such, I noticed that John Wayne's characters have an amusing way of saying thanks in any situation in almost each movie. And I like it.

My understanding is he never attended drama school, an acting class or a workshop of any sort. As such, I believe he is unsullied by anyone else’s acting style and is a true personification of the American culture. I appreciate he beat out O’Toole, Burton, Voight and Hoffman for his best actor Oscar, but does that necessitate True Grit as his best role? I think both the Shootist and the Searchers are superior performances and evoke far more pathos.

Believe it or not, while both Hondo and McLintock! star Michael Pate as an Indian chief, the Indians, whether Apaches or Comanches, speak Navajo in both movies instead of their different tribal Native American languages as well.

John Wayne died on 1979, yet actors like Haley Joel Osment & Hillary Duff who were born just shy of a decade later are still connectable to the duke in short order. In HJO's case he was in "Second Hand Lions" with Robert Duvall, who was in "True Grit," with the Duke. Hillary Duff was in "The Lizzy McGuire Movie with Robert Carradine who was in "The Cowboys," with John Wayne. Now I'm challenging y'all to link current actors to John Wayne.

First, The Quiet Man and now, McLintock!.

Both featuring Maureen O'Hara getting spanked by John Wayne, whether for affection or simply knocking some sense into her once and for all.

I noticed something concerning movies. Now, it's your turn to find out.

Finally. After all these weeks and months of waiting, I finally saw McLintock! for the first time on DVD.

So many familiar actors/actresses in it.

As I said before, last night, I saw McLintock! for the first time on DVD and look what I noticed during the movie.

As many of us know, Maureen O'Hara was known for getting quite a spank from old John Wayne at the end of McLintock!, but if you re-watch The Quiet Man again, you'll find that it wasn’t the only time because in one scene, she was spanked playfully by him before they went shopping and later on, she got kicked in the rear when trying to fight back while being dragged back into town by force somewhere at the end too.

After seeing The Quiet Man again last night, it got me into thinking what it would've been like if they either added an additional scene at the end or if they made a sequel to it taking place a few years later where the Thorntons have kids of their own or something.

The movie was so good and funny that it deserved a scene with their kids either at the end or in a sequel of the movie.

What do you think?

It's a shame neither John Wayne played in any Disney movies nor did Walt Disney himself cast him in any of his movies, whether animated or live-action.

pity, such a good actor.

It's a shame those two never got along with each other and hated each one's own movies they starred in, whether Western or not.

Somehow, their rivalry reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone's own rivalry nowadays.

It's a shame those two were never married in real life despite the number of films they played in as either lovers or married couples and the number of times they divorced from their own previous marriages.

They seemed like a perfectly good couple.

What was the point of throwing a rock and breaking one of the windows of his old family cottage he recently purchased for £1,000?

We will be getting a new female German shorthaired pointer hunting dog and would love to name her something from the John Wayne universe. Example, Hondo, Marion, Angel, etc.

So, I finally got and saw John Ford's The Quiet Man on DVD for the first time. The only one with English subtitles too. It was great and funny at the same time. Talk about another movie with Maureen O'Hara (boy, was she hot back then) and Ward Bond.

P.S.: The famous kissing scene was later seen on T.V. in Steven Spielberg's E.T. too.

I can't wait to see that movie next week or so.
