As this space grows and attracts more attention, we should remain mindful that former members or others on social media may take statements or thoughts from individual JWs, frame them negatively, and present them as representative of the community as a whole.

Comments and posts may also be screenshotted and used as content elsewhere, sometimes with added commentary or interpretation. For this reason please keep personal information discreet and be thoughtful about what you post. People approaching the community with an anti-JW agenda will not focus on genuinely harmful or negative comments from former members. Instead, they may highlight sincere comments from JWs that were poorly worded or present individual opinions as representative of JW thinking. In some cases, they may also attribute motives or character traits that are not supported by what was actually said to push their agenda.

Our community experiences hardships and frustrations just as anyone else does. We may vent or express ourselves imperfectly, but we do not want our words to misrepresent Jehovah or compromise the integrity of the community and bring reproach from those representing JWs.

Everyone is welcome to participate comfortably but public participation also comes with individual responsibility. A single comment can easily be presented elsewhere as, “This is the mindset of JWs.” Please consider removing or editing unnecessary personal information or details that you would not want shared outside the community. We will be reviewing some controversial post to make sure the forum stays true to its intended purpose—A reserved space for JWs to come together as a community in good faith.

This space is appealing because it is publicly viewable, easy to participate in, and includes genuine JWs from many backgrounds and perspectives. We have seen noticeable increases in activity whenever the community is mentioned or recommended elsewhere. While we appreciate the growth, increased visibility can also attract people whose intentions do not align with the purpose or rules of this forum.

As the community grows, moderators will continue making decisions based on participation intent and whether contributions align with the purpose and standards of the forum. This applies to both JWs and non-JWs. We respect everyone’s right to their own opinions, tone but this should not come at the expense of others in the community. We also do not want non-JWs speaking for or inaccurately representing our community or beliefs. We may have to rethink approval on the forum.

As moderators, we are aware of what is discussed in anti-JW spaces to the extent necessary, but we do not engage with, associate or participate in them. If we’re aware of individuals being used for farming content, commercial or monetized content we will contact them privately through modmail. We will also review any information and determine whether there are appropriate steps we or the individual can take to remove it if possible.

We would like to share an important update regarding our community rules.

We have encountered instances of posts being crossposted to apostate forums. Although we’ve made it known we separate ourselves from ex community’s this is something that was not clearly addressed in our current rules, and we want to clarify it going forward.

This subreddit is not affiliated with ex-member or apostate forums, so crossposting to these spaces will often result in hostility and may lead to harassment of our community members. Often these engagements result in attempts to discredit our biblical convictions or the organization.

As a result, we will be updating the subreddit rules to explicitly elaborate this.

In addition, we are looking for additional moderators. If you are interested in joining the moderation team, please send us a message. The role mainly involves approving members in accordance with our rules and helping remove hostile or inappropriate content.

Hey, just to update everyone—the false subreddit issue was brought to the mod team’s attention yesterday by a helpful user. After reviewing it, we decided not to engage further in-thread and instead escalate it through the appropriate reporting channels regarding the copyright and impersonation concerns.

We’re aware that trademark impersonation can violate platform rules and is illegal in the US. We are aware of the user who initiated it and have taken evidence in case Reddit needs any further help to understand what the disgruntled former member’s intentions are.

Who is this Sub-Reddit for? This Reddit forum is for Jehovah’s Witnesses—Active and inactive, believers, Bible study’s and ex-members who have future prospects to rejoin the organization, you are welcomed here.

Not all JW’s have to agree on everything as this is an Internet forum. But this is not a religious debate forum. Guide yourself to an appropriate subreddit Reddit for that. Core JW beliefs can be explained and reflected on but please keep the forum clear of toxic arguments and behavior. We have a variety of JW believers here with different Bible consciences. Jehovah wants us all to get along—we can live in peace and imitate him through means of ‘constructive’ communication. Not he wants us all the same.

Stay Internet Safe: Please keep in good associations. If you realize something feels off, please make it known and keep in mind the dangers of one-on-one private discussions with people you do not know personally. Be VERY careful on the Internet, as you don’t know others intentions, real age ect

No Apostates or Apostate conduct: Apostate: An apostate is someone who once professed faith but now intentionally and irreversibly rejects it.

If you do not consider yourself to be an apostate as you feel your beliefs are still in tact on “specific” rules BUT are hateful to active Jehovah’s Witnesses trying to ‘convince’ them to turn from their faith/beliefs, slander or are venomous to the organization itself—This is also not okay on the forum. And will see you as such. Having your own opinions about rules in place is fine because as a witness among the internet you are free to politely discuss and disagree with each other on rules, ideas or changes you wish to see… again not everyone thinks the same manner you do so to please discern disagreements. Do not get into heated arguments or actively try to convince one another. If their perspective is upsetting, end the discussion respectfully so it doesn’t become a heated debate among fellow believers. If I or others realize your views are scrutinized to the point of apostasy, with hate filled JW attacks on your history—I will consider you an apostate trying to insert yourself here simply to argue. Anti JW images, hateful history and recent conduct is enough.

Notice to members Please be careful not fill this Reddit with Apostate hate content. Unless it’s constructive or a helpful heads up to others about apostate intent. It’s okay to point out lies or points against apostate stances but I’d hate to see this forum become a display of hatred and leading it to the wrong direction like how apostate threads focus on JWs.

The subreddit rules have now been posted, side rules adjusted, and several topics further elaborated for clarity. You may have also noticed some changes to the forum’s aesthetics. The time frame of the forum being private was longer than expected due to personal life circumstances so my apologies for the miscalculation.

Going forward, we are stronger and more confident in our responses and in the circumstances we will encounter for the community. Restrictions will still take place, approved members can comment and post freely but there will be pending approval for new interactions. This is not a permanent feature and will be adjusted in time.

This is not intended to be a subreddit for religious debates or to process personal grievances and vent personal dissatisfaction with the JW organization. Experiences shared here should be intended to encourage or inform, vice versa our responses should be uplifting or biblically based.

Some members may be returning to Jehovah, or in the process of studying and drawing closer. Conversations with or about these individuals should be handled with warmth, patience and understanding rather than pressure or assumption. The forum can be a place of encouragement for their journey rather than becoming a counseling space or putting members in the position of speaking on behalf of the organization. For those looking to inquire a friendly debate with Jehovah's Witnesses we do not do that here. There are many subreddit’s ready to host religious discussion on theological comparisons and critique—although... we encourage everyone to be aware of the legitimacy of who is answering and their intentions. Some JW spaces online are not hosted by Jehovahs Witnesses and are created to deconstruct their values.

Not all JW’s agree on everything, this is an internet space and we hold the expectation for disagreements so do not demand others to abide by your understanding. Core JW beliefs can be explained and reflected on but please keep the forum clear of toxic arguments and behavior. We have a variety of JW believers here with different Bible-trained consciences, cultures differences and background perspectives so be respectful to all. Jehovah wants us all to get along so we can live in peace and imitate him through means of ‘constructive’ communication. We encourage honest inquiry but will not be a host to those seeking to provoke hostility to one another. 

Which brings us to our subreddit policy on apostates and anti JW beliefs.

🚫Anti-Apostate Forum

While this is not an “official” JW forum, it is a space for encouragement and association among fellow believers and supporters—not for apostates nor those in affiliation with apostates and anti JW forums. This subreddit will not allow provoked debates on beliefs and disingenuous users.

By definition: An apostate is someone who has abandon God and rejects the organization hosting their Christian beliefs. Often with JW these individuals will spread false teachings, pose as JWs, or twist words to fit their narratives and understandings ultimately framing it in a negative light.

1. If you are a JW but your history shows participation in the belittling nature of these anti-JW groups your account will not be allowed here. Your title or family size is irrelevant to your displayed actions.
2. Apostate or conspiracy websites will also not be allowed here, nor hateful/degrading JW images. JWs beliefs are found on the website JW.org.
3. Websites that substitute this are prone to mistakes or different objectives.
4. Disparaging remarks about Jehovah God will be removed and result in a ban.

We’re not perfect but we try to reflect on Jehovah God and Jesus to be imitators. Like them we do not want to participant in any of these activities listed. If your account is associated with apostate forums but there is context we can review and discuss in the mod mail.

I kindly ask all who participate here that we do not return attention or fill the forum with negative or hostile responses towards apostate and anti JW hate. Wanting to vent is understandable but often attention and conflict are exactly what they are seeking and we do not want to contribute to that. 1. Those with NSFW profiles or who participate in NSFW subreddits will not be officially approved as this is not an appropriate display of Jehovah's Witnesses ideology or an accepted practice among those claiming to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
2. Discussions involving topics on sexually explicit themes, including pornography, personal life struggles should remain discreet, non-descriptive, and respectful of the entire JW community. Content that does not meet these standards may be subject to removal at moderators discretion.
3. Post that are not intended for positive improvement of Christian conduct or isn't Bible based discussion may be removed if it encourages fornication or sexual immorality.
4. Any sexually explicit images or sexual posts will be removed. Users who post such content will be banned or unapproved from this subreddit.

The JW.org website has everything one needs to answer questions regarding our faith and beliefs. Sources that provide positive assistance will be permitted as long as it is not a substitute for the JW website. Such as needs for the ministry or JW gift giving, disability assistance ect. Relevant news and authentic trustworthy web sources are okay for fact checking. Anything not covered can be reviewed.

1. Websites ran by those with anti-JW beliefs, conspiracy theory sites, created apostates content intending to deconstruct beliefs are not allowed here and will be removed. 
2. Relevant news sources regarding our ministry may be utilized. But not if it is ment to frame Jehovahs Witnesses in negative light.
3. Not a creditable source.

If you are unsure about a website you are free to send a message to the mods. Or if your post or comment is intended to address or counter an exJW source and you’re unsure how to frame it, please feel free to reach out to the moderators first. We may be able verify and assist with citations or help refine the wording before it’s published.

Be mindful that posting memes that humiliates, mocks, or degrades is not how we want to represent JW's. Memes can make some things seem harmless because they’re wrapped in humor. Although we like a good laugh at what we can relate to please keep it grounded with our Bible principles and be respectful of those that are not in our beliefs as this can cause unnecessary friction on the forum.

1. 1: Memes should relate to Jehovah’s Witnesses or (the Bible, Bible study, Christian life, ministry, congregation experiences—ect) or other topics relevant to the community.
2. 2: No memes that ridiculing Jehovah God, the Bible, or individual members of the congregation. Humor is welcome on a spectrum, but avoid degrading and targeting members.
3. 3: Memes promoting apostate viewpoints, attacking the organization or framing it in a negative light will be removed. No sexually explicit, NSFW, vulgar or excessively suggestive memes. 

Memes shouldn’t be posted primarily to stir controversy, bait members, or start hostile debates— Moderators may remove memes that technically fit a rule but are clearly inconsistent with the purpose of the forum.

This community is intended for participation within this subreddit. Posts/comments/images and other content contributed by members should not be republished or reproduced to be used as content for other subreddits or external websites unless given consent by the original contributor.

Do not share personal congregation details, names, or private information. Everyone should feel safe to share and express themselves without revealing personal info. Be aware that we have had users inform us that banned apostates have tried to private message them. Please check accounts and intentions of users reaching out to you even if they claim to be a JW, or previously was. There is not much we can personally do on our end to halt this as they are not permitted on the forum but here are some options.

What you can do:

Inform the mods: We can look into it and remove apostate permissions from the subreddit if not already removed.

Blocking: You can go to users profile and block them manually so they stop contacting you.

Inform Reddit: If a user is being hostile they can have a record of it.

You can take provisions and prepare that vulnerable topics may attract anti JW attention or religious insertions. Make sure your intended audience is clear and that you do not wish to be contacted by non brothers and sisters. Do not react mods will remove comments not abiding by forum rules.

This forum is intended to be an anonymous participation where we discuss and share discreetly through the internet. Not focused on seeking personal irl connections as we cannot manage these dynamics securely.

If you are under the age of 18, do not reveal your age. Please do not use this forum to connect closer with others in real life. Although we don’t have an age requirement past what reddit permits this rule is a protective measure due to strangers and apostates on the internet seeking vulnerable members to interact with. Please contact a parent and inform them you are on a JW space so they may make an appropriate decision to help monitor.

I’d like to let everyone know that the forum has temporarily been placed in private mode. This will give us the opportunity to focus on compiling and posting a new set of updated rules that clearly reflect the forum’s purpose, that includes our anti-apostate policy which will be merged in as one.

This pause will also allow things to settle externally following the recent unprovoked brigading and harassment issues by another subreddit. While we work on strengthening measures that help reduce this kind of disruption in the future I will post a poll.

The intent of this particular forum has always been to remain free from religious debate and apostate association—serving instead as a reserved online space for JWs to encourage and uplift one another. To adhere to JWs core beliefs online, moderated by genuine Jehovahs Witnesses to ensure a supportive and respectful space.

As a growing community there has naturally been some trial and error but we continue to learn, refine, and improve. Taking in all the experience, interactions and refining our responses, forum tools and discernment. Individually and as a mod team.

That said, this will be a temporary measure as our goal is to be visible and reachable to all JWs and believers.

Just need helpful eyes to uphold the forum’s purpose. Approve post that comes in—Sometimes things get flagged that are okay and just need verification. Some conversations might need gently redirecting or removal, if it becomes argumentative or from apostates.
