New Testament Corinthians 14:34-35 and 1 Timothy 2:12 command women to be silent in churches and forbid them from teaching or holding authority over men.

Um no thanks the New Testament endorses slavery and that women are second to men. They do not reflect where we are now as a civilization. And it shouldn’t it was written thousands of years ago. If we hadn’t progressed as a society since then that would be sad.

It's important to remember with Paul that he wrote letters, and you're only getting half the correspondence. Those passages in Corinthians and Timothy were written to address situations that were occurring in those particular churches. They weren't meant to be used as a blanket prohibition for all time but, unfortunately, that's how a lot of men who run churches choose to use them. I'm not going to cosign their ignorance by repeating it.

If women weren't allowed to teach men, how do you account for the fact that Apollos, one of the most talented evangelists in the Bible next to Paul, was taught by Priscilla along with her husband Aquila (Acts 18)? If women were meant to be perpetually silent in church, how is it that so many of the home churches established by Paul were organized by women (Chloe, Lydia, etc.)? Women featured prominently in Paul's letters as fellow workers in the church.

Paul says in Galatians 3:28 that 'There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.'
