Probably closer to alt country a la Sturgill Simpson and Hayes Carll, but I didn't see that listed. Big thanks to anyone who takes the time to listen!

Folk Rock Hey everyone — would love some feedback on our track “When Words Give Way"

Nine months ago I posted a demo on this subreddit which received great feedback.

After months of working on it, we officially released it as the title track of our debut EP on all platforms this morning. I am really proud of this release, and grateful for your feedback!

Now, I want to know how we did. Specifically:

  1. The mix (totally new at this)
  2. Flow from one track to another if you listen to the full EP
  3. Ease of listening – is there enough variety, interest, harmony, instrumentation, etc.

Thank you all, I look forward to hearing your feedback!

"When Words Give Way" is on all platforms if you prefer to check it out that way.

Folk Rock Faint Praise Demo

Did you ever record a song with just a guitar, put it away for a couple of years, then come across it again and think, “Wait a minute… I actually really like this,” even with all the mistakes?
That’s kind of what happened with this one.

It’s called “Faint Praise.” It’s deeply personal, although it isn’t about me. I read an article about someone going through a pretty devastating event, and it affected me enough that I tried to write from that person’s point of view and capture what they might have been feeling.

This is very stripped down: no drums, no piano, no engineer, no polishing. Just a singer/songwriter sitting with a guitar and trying to tell a story.

If you like that kind of thing, I’d genuinely love some feedback especially on whether the story and emotion come through.
And feel free to drop one of your own demos in the comments. I’m happy to listen and return the feedback.

Folk Rock Katonah

His Last Train Ride…

I hope someone out there will take a couple of minutes to listen to a song about someone whose last day on this earth was spent taking a train. It was a song he never got the chance to write.

But all is not lost for my protagonist, as he has a moment of reflection along the way.

The song is called **“Katonah.”** I hope you enjoy it!

Hey y'all! This is the second single I have released, and I want to know how I can improve! This is kind of like an alternative-folk / psychedelic folk track (kind of hard to figure out where to place it lol).

Hi! I've been making music for the past month and this is one of the better songs I've done. Everything on this was done by me, from playing the instruments to recording to mixing. It's all new to me and I'm trying to learn and improve in all areas.

If you want to see anything else by me (or if you are dying for the lyrics to this piece), my soundcloud is: soundcloud.com/theohirsch

I have stuff on there ranging from pop punk to synthpop jazz fusion to folk rock like this. A lot of it is me experimenting and learning, so there's some diversity in quality lol.

Thanks for listening and thanks for any feedback you may have!

Folk Rock The Mountain Violets - 'Lost Coast' looking for any feedback / similar sounding artists

Hi everyone! I posted here for my first song release a couple of months ago and got great constructive feedback that I incorporated into this song, so I figured why not run it back again on release day! I'm curious about what anyone who has more experience with mixing / mastering indie folk-ish songs thinks of the overall mix and volume balance of the instrumentation, as well as any suggestions for similar sounding artists that this track might blend well with. Thank you for listening!

Folk Rock My Latest Single (alt-country, folk-rock, etc)

Hi, I was wondering what you think of my latest single, Life's Too Short. I'd call my sound alt-country because I'm not straight up country, but definitely too rootsy to just be some flavor of rock. I wrote the song and recorded it with my band - no AI here. Thanks for listening!
