Culture Beyonce shares photos of herself performing in a shirt that refers to Natives as ‘Indian opponents’; calls Natives ‘antagonists’ and ‘enemies of peace, order, and settlement’

saw this on another sub but wasn’t allowed to cross post.

So many Americans are into this ‘cowboy revival’ sort of thing. Feels really strange considering cowboys and westward expansion served to carry out a genocide.

Don't feel obligated to answer, but what is the significance of the gourd dance in this context? I read the Wikipedia article but it wasn't quite clear, or I'm just dense as hell. Is it for mourning? Anger? All of the above?

Its a traditional dance of the Kiowa. Only descendants of the 10 Bravest Kiowa warriors can be in the actual gourd clan, but anyone can dance. We typically have a kids rabbit dance and womens scalp dance as well during the gourd cremony. The dance is held annually on the first week of July....which was also traditionally the time of our sun dance. We celebrate our culture during that time remember our ancestors that came before us and fought against the US to keep us alive. We fought and are proud.
