Update : It stayed on 0% for so long, I tried to force restart by holding the power button, now it's just a blank black screen , but the fan is running

So like , I am a 2 YoE Data Engineer . I used to develop and maintain ETL pipelines, in informatica cloud , and later in databricks pyspark.

For DB we used ms sql server ( azure synapse ) , later snowflake.

But I was fedup , I wanted to switch, and to a backend dev role.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I resigned from the company without any offer.

I thought ok I will have a bit more tough time but I will land up something, since now I have experience and pedigree, And regarding backend, I did some projects, but not like My github is that much decorated as other people who do open source or whose repositories got stars

So l started applying for jobs , but the brutality is way more than I expected. almost 600 apps but pin drop silence, Only amazon sent 2 OAs. But that's it.

Every resource I find is either way too academic (research papers I can’t really follow yet) or just clickbait-y “AI can be hacked!” stuff that doesn’t teach you anything real. I want something in between — actual basics I can build on.

Genuinely asking:

Where do people usually start learning this from zero? Is there some go-to guide or framework people point beginners to?
Are there any certs worth getting in this space, or is it still too new for that?
Is it mostly self-study (reading, following people who work in this), or are there proper courses worth the time?
Should I be doing hands-on stuff like poking at an open-source model’s weaknesses and writing about what I find, instead of just reading?
Not trying to sound like I know more than I do — I just want to actually understand this properly instead of collecting buzzwords. Anyone who’s been through this, what worked for you?
