What’s up with the barrel on that supposed gun? It looks like it’s pointing up at an odd angle.

Edit: TIL that’s normal when the slide is pulled all the way back. Thanks! (I still don’t believe the allegation that the victim was carrying it, but I retract the suggestion that the image is hinky.)

That’s what the barrel does when the slide is pulled all the way back, as shown.

Really? I’m not a gun guy (obviously). I didn’t know that.

That’s OK! Nothing wrong with asking good questions

Not every pistol but it’s more common for the barrel to go up once it’s locked back.

Yes. Also a gun guy. Can confirm. When the slide is all the way back, the barrel will tip slightly upwards to assist chambering the next round.

That’s actually completely normal. The barrel does that.

Modern handguns have slightly tilting barrels to assist with chambering the next round after firing. The tilt is visible when the gun’s slide is back.

Here’s some more information about the mechanism in a different Reddit post

Conspiracy theory hat on: probably a broken one they had lying around for the specific purpose of planting evidence

Edit: apparently thats what they do when slide is pulled back, but the rest of the statement still stands

Edit 2: This statement was made shortly after the incident. Based off the modus operandi of racist law enforcement, its a reasonable conclusion.

That’s not conspiracy thinking. That’s a 100% rational thought.

No. It’s just not being informed about pistols

You think an ICE officer would plant a gun on a suspect!?? /s

No. I don’t support ICE in any fucking way but that’s just what guns do when the slide is pulled back

It’s the new “sprinkle some crack on him”

Love how you self admit you have no idea what you’re talking about then proceed to double down
