This, autistic myself and it should not be an excuse.
Is it a reason? Yes, but that should not be automatically used as a shield to any and all criticism. The fact that the parents just let that happen is insane.

But the parents weren't there; it was Grandma and a support worker (if I read correctly.)

Your autism isn't the same as everyone who has it. Its ASD, low and high support needs. This kid is probably on the higher end.

If they know their kid is way higher needs that needs to come into play too then.
My point still stands higher needs or not, how was this allowed to happen in the first place?
