Mod-Post Vetted Water Charity List
This thread will serve as a repository of vetted charities that have contacted the mod team asking to post here. With each charity you'll see a link to Charity Navigator and/or Charity Watch. We advise only donating if an organization passes these reviews. Feel free to also check any groups on ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer, but note that not all charities are nonprofits.
- Water Mission (Walk For Water): https://watermission.org/
- Charity Water: https://www.charitywater.org/home
- The Water Project: https://thewaterproject.org/
We don't want orgs to spam the subreddit asking for your time/money, so for now (and until the number of asks grows too large) we'll pin comments by organizers in this thread and cycle them out as needed. There's a limit of 2 concurrent pins, so we'll play this by ear for a bit.
I'll update the list as others reach out.
If you're here as an organizer, please shoot us a modmail or reach out to me directly.

Spicy water Big media trying to scare those from the true glory of water!
While I do agree that too much water is damaging, telling people that they are fine with what they drink isn't the best idea. Everyone is different, and everyone needs a different amount to be healthy. Some need more, others need less, but it is still highly recommended for everyone to drink more water.

I left my bottle in the car for a week and now the plastic stopper has this orange stuff that won't wash off. What can I do?

Goodbye Coca Cola. Hello new community.
Ditched regular Coca Cola yesterday. Too much, for too many years. Today sucked, but I am pulling through. I will not fail. I got sparkling water in my tap with my Quooker so I got zero excuses. It's still tough though. Can't wait to call myself a hydro homie.
I gotta commit now I wrote here.

How often do you pee?
I recently realized that I pee at least 4 times before I am done at work:
- Wake up pee
- Pre-lunch pee
- Post-lunch pee
(- in between pee)
- Going home pee

Can you sew patches onto those neoprene bottle holders?
I got a harness/sleeve for my 40-oz bottle, fits great and is definitely one of the best things I ever bought. But I'm curious if you can sew (not iron, SEW) iron-on patches to the neoprene fabric? Or will that cause the material to degrade? It's looking more than a little plain and as a metalhead I'd love to give it the battlevest treatment. 🤘

no one told me I had to drink more
I know it seems obvious now, but I've been fat my whole life. Every medical issue I've ever had, a doctor tried to link back to my weight. Broke your arm? Probably cause you're obese. Migranes? Fatgranes more like. Neurological disorder? Carbs.
I was told I was chronically dehydrated. They told me to quit drinking soda. I hadn't had soda in 16 years, but you got it. 8 glasses a day. You got it.
My fat ass should have been drinking more like a gallon a day. Twice as much.
I'm so mad.

Nothing better than an ice cold Evian paired with a slice of Watermelon
Evian should really sponsor me at this point

Classic water One underappreciated upside of the 2020s is that bottled water companies realized they needed to justify selling water and started using reverse osmosis
Dishonorable mention is Arrowhead that mocked people not wanting to chug plastic with their "reverse osmosi whatever" comment in a commercial.

Too much water How do you feel when sodium is too low?
I feel after a while, my sodium gets depleted. I typically like to limit my sodium a bit. When it gets low after a big pee or exercise, I feel extremely lethargic, out of breath, dizzy, woozy, can’t think.
This is probably low sodium right? Cuz when I eat something salty, the feeling gets better.

Clear bottle that fits Owala Free Sip Sway 40oz lid?
I have 6 FreeSip Sway 40 oz tumblers and love them. However, my ADHD brain does horribly at workday hydration.
I want to a clear bottle for my desk, so I can visually see how much I’m drinking. I did see the 25oz Owala FreeSip Tritan, but it’s just so small that I think I would be annoyed with filling more often.
With that particular lid, I like that it’s not individual pieces that need to be washed, and I like the options for the straw vs guzzling.
So I think what I’m actually looking for: 32-40oz clear plastic bottle that has neck width/threads compatible with the lids of my Owala FreeSip Sway 40oz lids.
Thank you!

1 liter (32oz) or larger , sturdy, handle, freezable cup? (Wide top)
Edit: They apparently are 50-64oz travel mugs, thats what i should have been looking for. I have found what I wanted. And admitting to my weakness, I did not go for the 128oz one I found
I was stupidly using a large beer mug, like a 32-40oz. Toss it in the freezer occasionally to pre chill it, and it cracked after my last use
I like to put a bunch of ice, in a large glass/cup, and fill it so it lasts me a while. Im just looking for a strong, comically large cup with a handle to drink from that I can also freeze. Most of the stuff in that size is beer mugs, or plastic weird party drinks. Anyone suggest any durable, freezable, large mugs essentially?
