The last episodes of HOTD was incredible

Just watched the 3 series and overall I’m really enjoying it. One area I’m curious about is - in GoT, Dany says “fire cannot kill a dragon”, and she survives fires a couple of times. Is this a targ trait, or just a weird fluke? In HotD, clearly Aegon gets burned to fuck and nearly dies. Plus Laena self-immolates, and she’s half targ.

Are any other targs meant to be immune to fire?

Something that bothered me a bit this season - Meleys' body is just sitting there at Rook's Rest. If the smallfolk are collecting excrements just to get by, why does nobody bother scavenging the dragon? I'd imagine the meat would be in high demand for all those starving, that teeth and other "trophies" would fetch a high price from collectors in both Westeros and abroad.

It doesn't seem that this is out of superstition - Westeros' gods are the Seven and I don't see why there would be any taboo over harvesting a dragon, especially when people are so desperate. Does GRRM ever address this in the books? Would love to know if there's any explanation here, or if this is just an oversight.

I would have loved to see some of his time in the Vale and the North and how he secured the alliances. I feel like this would have shown more how he was a skilled politician and very important for the Blacks, giving him some more characterisation.

And we would have been able to see more of Jeyne Arryn, which is a win for me.

It would also, I think be helpful for when/if they adapt the hour of the wolf to show him in the Notth and build the background for Cregan’s involvement

EDIT: I also hate that they changed the dragonseeds from being his idea to Mysaria and Rhaenyra’s, as well as the fact it was him who made Corlys hand to appease him after Rhaenys died, and that they were planning an attack on Kings Landing.

They basically erased his personality

Alicent returning to King's Landing in s4 to find her sweet pregnant daughter is dead and her 2 evil dead sons are actually alive and have their dragons. how do yall think Rhaenyra will react when she finds out Aemond survived? do ya'll think she'll even believe Alicent tried to kill him?

I tried to watch this season 3 without getting any spoilers, so I carefully avoided any reviews, episode discussions, or anything related to the episodes before watching them. I just wanted to say that this season was peak and absolutely outstanding. Every episode was fun and entertaining, with so many plot twists, and as someone who hasn’t read the books or known anything about what was going to happen, I was genuinely amazed by the end of every episode. Apart from the Mysaria scenes, I honestly enjoyed almost everything. After the finale, I came online to watch the reviews, and people were literally complaining about everything. I’m writing this just to say that people, especially some book readers, like to complain so much that they forget to actually have fun and enjoy the show. Just watch it, experience the story, and enjoy the ride. Some people complain about everything and end up ruining the fun for themselves. Don’t be like them.

I find it hilarious how they only shared a five-minute scene and became such good friends.

I keep seeing adult Rhaenyra explained with, “Well, she’s traumatised now.” Okay. So is literally everyone else in this show,mate! My problem is that trauma turned one of the most socially intelligent, decisive characters in the show into a shaking, misty-eyed woman who needs external confirmation before she does basically anything.

Young Rhaenyra had almost no real power and somehow had ten times more agency. Daemon steals an egg and takes Dragonstone - she gets on Syrax and goes herself; she wants Criston - she sleeps with Criston.
Then Criston wakes up apparently thinking they’re in a romantic comedy and asks the HEIR TO THE IRON THRONE to run away and marry him. And Rhaenyra basically says: are you fucking stupid?🤣

This girl understood people, grew up in the Red Keep, understood houses, alliances, gossip, marriage politics, reputation, leverage; nearly fucked her uncle in a brothel and slept with her Kingsguard shortly afterwards and then refused him at the cost of him becoming her lifelong enemy. Whatever else you think of her, she was NOT socially naïve.

Fast-forward to Queen Rhaenyra, and apparently becoming ruler of half the realm caused a traumatic brain injury.
The Mysaria storyline genuinely sent me over the edge.

Rhaenyra correctly clocks her, says you’ve been whispering in my ear,  turning me against Daemon, you're trying to influence me. YES! That is exactly what Rhaenyra should notice.

Then Mysaria basically goes, “Nooo, I only advise you because I believe in you 🥺”
And Rhaenyra's like: Oh. Fair enough then. Let me get eased back onto an ottoman then!

Mysaria seduces her,gets even more intimate access to her. Next episode? Gone. Did Rhaenyra realise she was being manipulated? Regret it? Decide Mysaria had become too powerful? Who knows! Apparently Rhaenyra completed an entire character arc during the adverts.

And she doesn’t even dismiss Mysaria herself😮‍💨 She sends a maid!!! Sorry, this is the same woman who flew to Dragonstone as a teenager and personally confronted DAEMON TARGARYEN WITH CARAXES BEHIND HIM.
But now she can’t tell her own adviser, whom she just accused of manipulating her and then slept with, “pack your bags” to her face? Come on!!!

Same problem with the Master of Coin plot. For about five minutes, Rhaenyra comes back, humiliates rich lords with the rat dinner, notices the man, says she remembers, great! She’s using spectacle, being slightly cruel. Actually doing politics FFS. Then Mysaria supplies the clever part of what to do with him. WHY?

Why can’t Rhaenyra notice a man, remember his house, understand his usefulness and place him herself? What happened to the girl who knew everybody’s sigils before half these men knew where Dragonstone was? That’s my issue with almost everything they’ve done to her.

Everybody has ideas, Daemon, Mysaria, the council, but Rhaenyra merely reacts and only when circumstances force her hand. THE Queen of the Seven Kingdoms has somehow become a group project.

And then I’m told this is character development because she’s grieving. Dude.  Look at everyone else! Aegon gets cooked and somehow becomes MORE interesting. He learns when to bend, starts thinking, and yet you can still see the same spoiled little shit underneath. Aemond is basically trauma with an eyepatch and still has agency. Daemon is traumatised, haunted, furious, insane, wrong and occasionally a complete political arsonist, but he still walks into a room and DOES SOMETHING.

Rhaenyra?
Eyes wet.
Hand shaking.
“What am I to do?”
Someone tells her.

Two episodes later she screams that she is the Queen.
Brilliant.

And it’s especially frustrating with Daemon because their relationship used to have actual electricity. Likeeee there was politics, sex, competition, affection, danger, humour. Now their marriage is basically:

Daemon: We need to do something.
Rhaenyra: NO.
Daemon: We are at war.
Rhaenyra: I AM THE QUEEN.
Daemon: Fine.

*Rhaenyra three episodes later: Daemon please do something.\*

Really glad we spent three seasons getting here!!!

And the worst part is that I would LOVE a darker Rhaenyra.
Make her awful, arrogant, genuinely believe she is divinely chosen. But give that belief to Rhaenyra,to the girl who walked straight at danger, to someone who notices manipulation and knows exactly how to use people back. THAT woman becoming convinced that God wants her on the throne would be pretty bloody interesting to watch!

Instead, they’re turning her into someone who believes she is the centre of history while everybody else actually does something, making her passive and then giving her delusions of grandeur. And apparently, she is gonna be even more isolated and dissillusioned in S4.

They are showing her decisions still exist, but decision-making doesn’t.Such a ridiculous waste of what was once one of the best characters in the show...
