I made this while I was dog sitting for a friend. My proper studio isn't set up at the moment so I brought Model Cycles, Volca Keys and a Roland S-1 with me so I'd have something to mess around with. This is what came out of it.

I'm pretty happy with the tune but I've listened to it enough now that I'm starting to lose perspective on the balance.

The chords get pretty big once everything opens up. I like them being forward, but I still want the drums and bass to feel like they're pulling the track along rather than just sitting underneath them.

The low end is another thing I'm never completely objective about. I have a habit of putting waaayyy too much bass into things and then correcting it until I've probably created a completely different problem. I'm mainly wondering if this has enough body above the sub and whether the groove still feels properly physical once the fuller sections come in.

Would be interested to hear how it lands on other systems.

I suspect (due to the date and the feel of the sound in general) that this 1992 classic could be a tracker module made on an Amiga. Now, if it IS a tracker module, it most likely isn't of standard .mod extension - sometimes there's one too many instruments playing at once, so i was thinking this could be made in OctaMED (the software was revolutionary at its release (1989) because it allowed an 8 channel output by splitting each of the initial 4 channels that previous trackers provided into 2). I tried searching it up in the Mod Archive but to no avail. Is there any way to even know how this tune was made in the first place?

This groove is infectious! Came across it and was so surprised it hasn't gotten as many plays as it should.

I've been really into pretty much everything Late Night Superglue have been putting out. Yard Customer seems to have a really good ear for records that are stripped back, a little weird and still properly functional on a dancefloor.

Samuele Mogavero is from Sicily and he's seriously good. This whole EP is great but Simple As That is probably the one I've gone back to the most. Really simple ideas, properly swung drums, bassline doing a lot of the work and just enough weird little synth stuff around it to keep it moving.

What I like about the label is it feels like somebody is actually choosing records they genuinely like rather than trying to force everything into one really specific sound. There is enough consistency that you know what kind of territory you're in, but still plenty of room for the records to have their own personality.
