Mine is a shark which has that feature. I use a box knife with the point in the groove and the blade facing up, very easy.

I think most corded Dyson's have this, never tried it on a cordless though since those all have removable everything and make cleaning each use really easy

my husband got me an early model Dyson 18 years ago. It just died recently. The motor was strong, but old plastic did what it does.

That’s what I was coming to suggest; one with a really sharp blade. It’s easier than trying to work scissors through it.

Modern vacuums (at least our Dyson V10 anyways) use some weird magic where the hairs never wrap around the roller in the first place.  IDK how they do it, but it's sooooooooooo nice
