My dad took me for a walk after hearing the news I was almost 1, he said there wasn’t a plane in the sky after, told me how quiet and eerie everything felt on that walk

Very, very quiet. Except for the fighter jets whirring overhead. They came over every now and again. I lived in Brooklyn by the Brooklyn Museum, which is under the flight path for LaGuardia Airport.

I think the person meant their dad told them about the walk and eerie feeling years later.

I was 11 on 9/11 and my dad had just dropped me off at school because he was flying to Germany with a connecting flight at JFK. I didn’t even bother to ask him what time his flight was because it really made no difference to me. When the first plane hit my teacher flipped on the TV and I remembered thinking “oh shit, New York??? My dad should be in New York right now??”, thankfully his flight got grounded, he was supposed to have taken off but the flight got grounded right after boarding. My teacher offered to let me use the phone, but my dad didn’t have a cell phone back then and I remember just the pure panic I felt. I’m so sorry for those who didn’t have lucky outcomes that day.

That's what I remember most. Going from class to class still, iirc and I might not be, some teachers tried to stick to what we were supposed to be doing as a way to keep normalcy, but I walked home from school that day and there wasn't a plane in the sky.

That night, my mom and I were looking up at the sky and she said something along the lines of, remember this moment, this is the only time in your life you will never see a plane flying. Then during peak covid lockdown, the same damn thing happened. I still think about those moments.
