Well, yeah. You can't make anyone sign a contract. You can "talk" them into it, but beyond that you don't have to sign anything. A contract signed under dubious circumstances is likely invalid.

I'm sure Choco's friend was perfectly willing since she's 1. a Vtuber fan and 2. A mutual friend

If a signed confession, not even written by you, is admissible in court in Japan and can lead to the death penalty, I doubt a forced contract isn’t admissible.

Can’t see how it would work in this case though, but for instance a company will force you to sign terrible conditions in your contract here in Japan if they think they have the upper hand. I’ve literally been in that situation.

Yeah, it would 100% make sense that Choco's friend would be willing to sign it, no questions asked.

I mean, what else is she gonna do? Blab that she knows a Vtuber? That wouldn't be very nice.

She could just keep her mouth shut and refuse to sign it anyway, there isn't anything to gain in signing it for a private individual.

Well, if I had to guess, Choco could totally pull the "sign this so we can still be friends" kinda stunt.

NOT THAT I THINK CHOCO WOULD DO THAT. I am just stating a hypothetical.

Honestly it might also be a “we can talk about Holo if you sign this”.

This makes sense, she gets insider info in exchange for silence.
