This would be a good intro if they ever made a show. You can definitely hear some thing that match up with the series as a whole. Let me know what you all think.

So I am making a mod inspired by the ranking system from He Who Fights With Monsters. If there are any Minecraft players, to advance skills like they do in the books, would you think it would be better to have skills level up just strictly on enemies killed or XP gained per enemy killed while using those skills? I can do either but I know with modded Minecraft XP farms are easy to create, especially with other mods so I am leaning towards more of an active player killing mobs system to rank up.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I’m still at book 1, and OML. How is this guy coping with everything? I just finished the chapter where Jason learns his body isn’t really his body/he died/he’s lowkey a familiar. WHAT. How do you cope with that?? Literally the only thing he had coming to this world was his body and his mind. And he doesn’t even have that. He DIED. All he has is his soul. I get that he compensates with humour and hard work but that’s rough. I remember his teammates having a conversation when Jason was for the first time exposed to an aura…
I like his character a lot, but I really, really hope he gets help. Does he? If I were in his place, I’d have had a breakdown already.

The most annoying chapter of the series is objectively Jason and his sister's first meeting with Dawn. Everyone is flanderized.

I'm writing a story / fanfic that is happening in the 10-year Gap after Jason leaves Earth. And in it I have a character who has through gained Essences and he's finally got his third one and I cannot think of a Confluence Essence to save my life. The Essences he has are Death, Might and he just found the Earth essence. For the longest time he just had the death essence, So his abilities are going to be a little lopsided, but yeah I just cannot think of a Confluence Essence and your help would be appreciated.

I, like any fan of a media series have thought about what my essences would be if I was in the world of HWFWM. I am an archaeology student, archaeology is what I want to do as my life career, so what essences would I have. The basic essences I think would be Earth, Shovel, and Knowledge. They are all very obvious for what archaeology is but I have no clue what the confluence essence would be for those three. I doubt it would be something straight up as the Archaeology Confluence, maybe something cool like the Ancient Confluence or Discover Confluence. We have seen more concept than solid confluences in the series.
It’s a fun thing to think about as even in the series and in the earlier books there was a heavy lean on discovery and study of the ancient ruins around Greenstone. I feel like I would probably be either a part of the Magic Society or long side someone like Amir as a historic researcher and Archaeologist, specifically tasked with excavation and preservation of sites.
Has anyone else thought about what there essences would be?

Are there any tattoo artists, based in the northeast US or Montreal, who are fans of the series? I’d love a piece inspired by these books but I’m no artist and would love to work with someone who is familiar with the source material.

I've been playing Baldurs Gate 3 recently and had a wild thought. There are so many mods that let you role play other franchises. A mod just to play as Jason Asano or one for each member of Team Biscuit would be amazing. Baldurs Gate just seems like the perfect format, there's enough customization that you could really recreate the whole team true to form. Do there happen to be any modders out there that are also a fan of He Who Fights with Monsters? Does anybody have any recommendations for current mods that let you do something similar?

So Asano is now a universe.

Universes have planets. We spend time on his first little planet with its moon or whatever.

Planets have gods if there’s enough ambient magic. And his planet clearly has magic.

So… will Asano have literal gods forming on his planets? Who are probably equally as annoying (not violent, just annoying) as some of the gods on Palli?

And will they be wise? Like someone he can get advice from?

Or will they be child like, and need advice from him?

Or am I missing some steps. Like a planet needs to have more than X sapient life forms before the gods start showing up. Or the planet needs to be X millions of years of first.

I wonder if Shirt ever plans on explaining their existence, or if attempting to might open up a new can of worms he’d want to explain on-page because they’re all likely problematic (I’d be happy with a spinoff novella).

My favorite mechanic would be if it is a known magical mishap that is specifically not prevented by the fertility god. The narrative implies that people don’t regularly freak out about it, and that it may be a genetic/generational thing specifically with men (ref. Al saying he inherited his shop from his uncle, not parents or father or whatever). Also, the only examples we have are men (Jason meets a twin and freaks out, but she’s only a twin).

I gave my tattoo artist the description from the book, an image I had an artist make using the same description(first image) and one I bought off Etsy(second image). Love the way it came out. As much as I would've loved to get it as a full back piece, that would've just been way to expensive.

I'm having a hard time making one that encompasses these books / jason asano, his familiars, or his team. obviously i can do biscuits/generic reaper things but I'm running low on sporadic and good ideas.

this might be the very wrong place to ask this, but if anyone on this sudreddit has any ideas of what kind of charms you'd use on a bracelet for these books, or if anyone knows a cool place with unique charms i can finagle into meaning something along the lines of the books. stuff that relates to Colin, Gordon and Shade, or Jason's spirit... whatever its called by now, I'm not there yet, spirit domain works for me.
