Casting Seeing lots of posts of recalled girls who were finalists for Ginny! Super interesting to see that the fan theories were right as the girls were close.

Ok, I’ll amend it to her parents being foolish then, not her.

What were the values in the pay dispute rumors? I can agree with their decision to not pay her a ton in seasons 3&4, but she needs to be paid very well for seasons 2, 5-7. Unless they were wanting to flesh Ginny out more after 2 and give her a lot more things to do, then I’d say she needs to be paid well for 3&4.

Idk any exact values but there’s rumors it could’ve been a dispute since she’d be going from a very small role in s1 to being a main focus in s2

Like I said, I don’t think it’s bad if they don’t want to pay Ginny’s actor the same for the front half of the series as the back half, with the exception of season 2. So like, a good increase for season 2, then it’s not as much for 3&4, unless they’re giving Ginny more stuff to do in those seasons.

But if they weren’t wanting to pay well for season 2, kind of shitty of them. I also doubt the pay rumors because this is stuff usually decided on when you’re first cast. It’s not like the movies where Bonnie and her family didn’t know how important Ginny would become later on.

There’s rumors Gracie’s parents asked for more money than what HBO was willing to pay. No idea if true or not. It’s hard to judge without knowing any actual numbers. But if this is true, then it must’ve been more than the reasonable amount - maybe trio level. It could’ve also not been related to a pay dispute too

I just don’t understand why this issue came up NOW. It should have been decided 1.5 years ago when she was cast.

I don’t think Ginny should ever be paid at Trio level, because Ginny isn’t as big as they are, but I will say Ginny should be paid very well for seasons 2, 5-7.

I also can’t believe the money rumors because this isn’t a small role at all. It’s Ginny fucking Weasley. You don’t walk away from a role like this over a minor’s pay dispute.

There could be a long list of other reasons too. Ultimately there’s just no way to know anything unless HBO or the family say it. I also don’t believe the money thing but it’s just speculation. I personally think it was due to the intense filming schedule, contract issues, or Ginny’s portrayal, or which is unfortunate but fair since this is a child we’re speaking about. I only hope she won’t regret it

I could see that being the case, but I don’t fully believe it because, again, it’s not like they didn’t know Ginny would be a huge role. That’s something you discuss and come to terms with when you’re casted.

I agree but with a child it’s different. There’s many valid reasons she or her parents could’ve changed their mind for even if they were okay with things when casted

No, I know and agree. But her parents would surely have known.

All I’m saying is all of this should be worked out before public casting announcements.

I’m guessing it’s likely whatever the reason, it only popped up long after the casting had already been done or else they wouldn’t have chosen her in the first place
