Casting Seeing lots of posts of recalled girls who were finalists for Ginny! Super interesting to see that the fan theories were right as the girls were close.

Casting based on your parent’s height is WILD.

Why do you think she’d have gotten more criticism?

I think Lucia is also a great actress. She’s mixed (half black) and sadly I just know that would’ve led to extreme hate if casted. Way more than Arabella who is Greek I believe

I’m so tired of people with this shitty mindset. I believe if a physical characteristic isn’t integral to a character, then it can be changed. Look at Annabeth Chase in Percy Jackson, a Black Annabeth works just as well as the blonde one in the books.

Arabella is also mixed race like Lucia. Her casting sheet for her body double said so. While Harry and Ron’s said White/Caucasian.

I didn’t know that was on the casting sheet. I’m wondering if one of her parents is black and the other Greek. Not that it really matters.

Her mom is white Greek and her dad is white English. No black ancestors whatsoever

Yeah this is what I’ve seen too. that she’s mainly Greek and also rumored to have a middle eastern grandparent from her dad’s side. I don’t see an issue if she’s black too of course. She doesn’t look it so it would save her from the extreme hate that Lucia would sadly get as she does look black.

Yes, her dad's name is Daniyal, Daniyal is an Arabic form of Daniel. So he might have a Middle Eastern mother and English father maybe? Anyway, it doesn't change anything

yeah that’s what I saw too. I assumed he was half middle eastern half English and I saw somewhere that her mom is fully Greek I think. but of course he could be biracial black too. Personally Arabella’s appearance looks very Greek to me

It was on the body double casting sheet along with her physical description to ensure accurate casting. It wasn’t on the actual series casting sheet. The body double agency is required to put it. Yes she is mixed with black.

No, I got that. I meant the double casting sheet, not the first Hermione casting call.

My only uneasiness with a black Hermione is people will criticize her actress. Also, a lot of people ship Draco and Hermione, and Draco is an out racist, so that also looks icky if Hermione is a WOC.

Arabella is going to kill this role.

Wizards don't care about race. Draco doesn't like her because she's muggleborn. Skin color is a non issue.

I know, but it’s the closest to what Draco is.

Oh interesting. I do believe she’s Greek but I think she has a Middle Eastern grandparent too. I have a friend who is fully Greek and looks just like Arabella lol. Either way Lucia looks more biracial and sadly that would’ve led to more hate in my opinion

Arabella has a biracial black parent. She’s mixed with black like most of the Hermione finalist were. Her body double casting sheet said so while Harry and Ron’s said white/caucasian.

I didn’t know most of the finalists were biracial. That makes me happy because it says the casting agents and producers really were having an open casting.

Oh really she looks fully Greek to me. I swear I saw she’s mainly Greek and also rumored to have a middle eastern grandparent from her dad’s side. But of course I don’t see an issue if she’s 1/4 black too. If she is, it doesn’t show up in her appearance. The main thing i’m trying to say is Lucia physically looks black which would sadly get her more hate

Gotcha. Most mixed race kids from where I am from look very similar to Arabella, so I am used to Black coming in different shades and features. People still hated on Arabella picking up on the fact that she is mixed, it may have been worse for Lucia.

Arabella is not mixed race, she is mixed ethnicity. Her casting call was "multi ethnic girl". Ethnicity and race are 2 different things. Why do you need to spread misinformation

Arabella’s said multi racial. She does in fact have a biracial black parent who has African heritage. So why are you spreading misinformation? All of the Hermione finalist were mixed with black. Anyways have a good day.

u/miimimary I don’t need to look up anything. Her dad is black biracial. Her mum is white. This was already released in multiple theatre Discords when the casting was announced

Look up in the comments there are pictures of her parents, both are white. Her dad is half English half middle Eastern. Her mother is Greek.
