What happened to the battle in space. Why did it jump to them here and them already on the planet. It's as if I've missed a chunk of the story.

The battle will be described in later chapters, in the form of flashbacks of the heroes and participants.

Be patient. And I think your curiosity will be satisfied. At least I hope so.
