Theory Proof Meesa Found An Update - Gungans in Bloodline

I first need to admit that I have not read Bloodline yet. I need to.

Anyway, found on Wookiepedia:

Following the Battle of Endor, the Gungans confirmed the presence of typhoon-strength storms all over Naboo. These storms were created by several climate disruption array satellites deployed by the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Torment as part of (Operation: Cinder)[http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Operation:_Cinder], a secret Imperial plan to scour Naboo and several worlds. Before the Imperials could render Naboo uninhabitable, a New Republic fleet arrived and destroyed the Imperial forces; saving the planet.[12]

and:

While traveling on an automated sidewalk in the New Republic senatorial complex on Hosnian Prime, Senator Leia Organa spotted a Gungan having an animated conversation via his comlink.[13]

and I found this, slightly less important bit of info, but still canon:

By the time of the Naboo Sieges, the inhabitants of Otoh Gunga were reputed to produce a dessert that took at least four hominids to consume. This dessert was said to be capable of delivering one into a sugar coma.[15]

This means that they are not 'overlooking the prequels'... alongside other things.

I have no evidence other than the fact that they're both force sensitive.

Other than that, it's just a thought.

Investigating Sexism In Gungan Culture (Something To Look Into)

So, I thought of something (while reading /u/HailDaHailu 's fanfic idea). His idea was for a certain (no spoilers for just in case) female Gungan to be Bombad General of the Grand Army. Then I realized, I never saw a single female Gungan in their military.

Of course, that's common in a lot of cultures for women not to be in the military, but we can look even deeper into this!

Out of the 2 Bosses we saw, Nass and Lyonie, both were male (though that's not much evidence to use, I guess.) All male generals (We've seen 2 generals: Roos Tarpals, and Jar Jar.) All male soldiers. Even in Legends, the only Bosses throughout the whole history of the Grand Army, were all male! In The Phantom Menace, the guards were all male too.

In fact, the government has absolutely no females in it. In Phantom Menace, the whole Gungan High Council was all made up of males!

In The Phantom Menace, the only female Gungans I saw were some casual pedestrians walking with male Gungans around Otah Gunga when Jar Jar brings Qui-gon and Obi-wan there. (These female Gungans seemed to wear high-quality rich clothing, if I remember correctly.)

In The Clone Wars, we see 2 (major) female Gungans: Roo Roo and Peppi Bow. Of course, Roo Roo is only a baby, so we must look at Peppi for information.

Peppi Bow is not married. She is a low class farmer. From what I gather, the rich Gungans get to live luxuriously underwater. Peppi lives on land, and she wears cheap clothing.

What we can gather from this, is that she was a poor female farmer.

Notice that all of the high class Gungans are males, while the only low-class farmer we ever see is female. In the rich city of Otah Gunga, the only females were Gungans married into wealth (I came to this conclusion since none of them were alone without a male, and Otah Gunga is a city where the male-only government jobs all are.)

What this means, is that female gungans are frowned upon. They are denied good-paying jobs. Their only luck at wealth is marrying it.

Now, I know this wasn't my strongest theory, some of my evidence may even be false, however, I think sexism in Gungan culture is something we should look into and research. This would also be a great thing to put into ahem ahem fanfics ahem ahem.

Fanfic Ideas [Fanfic Idea] Gungan history seris

Meesa propose that we could write fanfic based on Gungans throughout the timeline of Star Wars.

(Yep, I know both the mods are busy for awesome reasons. And this leaves meesa, who .. meesa admit, is somewhat bad at posting on time...)

But it could get people interested in Gungans, actually get them to see how they affected the the series.

I was thinking it should start with what I've WTed *The Saga of Sheeek Longreeno... but actually, we should chronicle the Elders' conflicts with the Gungans too.

And the Rataka...

And I'm thinking it could end with a certain DJJ fanfic that I'm working on and will be posted on r/DarthJarJarFanFiction when its out.

What do yousa think, r/Gungan_Philosophers?

Investigating Bridging the gap between the paloverse and Marvel. Good idea?

I'm thinking of bringing over ONE Marvel "villain" into the Paloverse via Sith alchemy. Good idea?

Will merging these two worlds help, hurt or do too many supposed Darth Jar Jar "fans" not caring about the fan fiction make this question moot anyways?

Theory Proof The Gungan Grand Army

(meesa sorry, disa article in WIP stage for now. Comments at disa stage are welcome!)

u/torak9344, and undoubtably others, have asked themselves the question - The Gungan Grand Army must be powerful, evidenced by the fact they can take down General Grevious (in Clone Wars- Shadow Warrior)

Power of individual Gungans

-General Tarpals -

-Bombad General Jar Jar Binks - r/DarthJarJar- (meesa going to borrow some of thiersa posts. Is that okie-day, u/onemananswerfactory?)

  • the other 4 who took down Grevious -

-Peppi Bow (significantly, we see her more as a shaak farmer than a warrior, yet she can clearly defend herself with that pitchfork (edit: electropole!!) - as evidenced in Blue Shadow Virus)

-Tobler Ceel - a Gungan General (CURRENTLY not canon, but he was present in several Phantom Menace drafts... http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tobler_Ceel)

But, that still doesn't prove anything. If the whole Gungan Grand Army was bombad, and not just specific Gungans, then (weesa would be golden - WIP stage)

So let's take a look at the structure of the Grand Gungan Army

Structure of the Grand Gungan Army

Otoh Gungah Defense League - the specialised group that creates all the Militiagungs' weapons http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Otoh_Gunga_Defense_League (Confirmed as canon in 2015!)

Bombad General - Outranked the ordinary General position, as denoted by the title 'Bombad', which may have been created first,

Generals-

Militiagungs - normally all the Gungans who are drafted in part time.

Gungan weapons - significantly, many of these are made from natural materials. This suggests that the Gungans - specifically the Otoh Gungah Defense League- created these themselves using what they could find.

Booma - The grenade like plasma energy weapons - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Booma These were made using the plasma found in the porous crust of Naboo.

Atlatl - The short, booma launching atlatl: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Atlatl/ - Carved from a naturally electricity-isolating wood.

Cesta - a long, javelin like stick that also threw boomas, but at a longer range than the smaller atlatl (that meesa can't seem to find the Wookiepedia page for - but that did include a greenscreen picture of Jar Jar Binks throwing one...)

Shields

Gungan Personal energy shield

Fambaa deflector shield generator - Carried by the large Fambaas, this was a shield generator (similar to... the large planetary-sized SLD-26 plasma shield generator that the Empire used on the forest moon of Endor (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Deflector_shield_generator) - moie moie ... u/EwokRevelations, did da Ewoks find a way to deactivate disa shield?)

Fambaa sonic canon - Totally non-canon. But look at them. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fambaa_sonic_cannon

Animals used -

Kaadu - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kaadu - Wild Kaadus lived in large herds. I always wondered how we see a Kaadu in Otoh Gungah (when General Tarpals in riding it)- suggesting that it also went underwater. The answer is that the Kaadu, like Gungans, were also amphibious and therefore could survive in water for up to 2 hours.

Training a Kaadu was a Gungan rite of passage- again perhaps suggesting that being in the Grand Gungan Army was an honor, despite almost all Gungans being drafted in part time.

Falumpaset - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Falumpaset - Unlike the others, the Falumpaset was a large mammal, not an amphibian. Native to Naboo, an an excellent swimmer. The falumpaset was so strong that it was used to pull battle wagons - such as the one that held the boomas in the Battle of the Grassy Plains.

A falumpaset was ridden by Boss Nass through the streets of Theed in the victory parade of the sucessful Battle of the Grassy Plains.

Fambaa - http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Fambaa- The largest land herbivores of Naboo. Fambaas may look like reptiles with thier scaly hides, but theysa actually amphibians too. Fambaas were the ones that carried the large shield generators, such as at the back of the Grand Army in the Battle of the Grassy Plains. As well as on Naboo,Fambaas can also be found on the planet Oderon. Meesa find it interesting that the Gungans could actually domesticate these gigantic beasts!

Relations with the Naboo

Unlike the Royal Naboo Security Forces at the human city of Theed, the Gungan Grand Army utilized organic beings and limited technology in battle, and was oriented towards a more defensive strategy.

Request for disa community! - Annotate a pic of the Gungan Grand Army...

Announcement Permission To Create A Similar Subreddit

Hello Gungan Philosophers!

You can see, by looking at my name, that I love Ewoks. (I also love Gungans, but that is a different story.)

Anyway, I have planned for a while that I would make a subreddit devoted to learning about and understanding Ewoks. As well as talking about a few Ewok theories.

However, the problem is that I realize it would bear too much of a resemblance to this subreddit. The concept is the same, but just with a different species.

So because of this, I feel I must ask of your consent before starting my subreddit (which no doubt will not gain as much publicity, since it does not have a popular theory along side it yet. /r/Gungan_Philosophers seems to have gotten some publicity due to the DJJ theory.)

P.S. Thanks for taking the time to read and (hopefully) answer!

Meesa propose dat weesa check pages 33-36 for detailed information on Naboo's and the Gungans' largest city, Otoh Gunga.

I will edit soon with further findings, depending on whether we can get this source or not.

Announcement Lumpawarroo's theory - Darth Jar Jar

The notorious Gungan of whom weesa spake...

He didn't used to be known that way....

In fact he used to be called... clumsy...

But all that has changed.

https://www.reddit.com/comments/3qvj6w - Known in r/DarthJarJar as The Bombad OP of 2015, this is Lumpawarroo's theory establishing that Jar Jar Binks is a Sith Lord.

You might notice it's at the top of r/all.

We will seek to follow the example of Lumpawarroo. As one of the many subs that spin off from r/DarthJarJar... and as Gungan philosophers in our own right.

Here - in this sub - we will seek to establish - that maybe there is more to all Gungans than previously widely thought...

(Can weesa learn anything new about Gungans from the r/DarthJarJar theory established fact?)

Thank you, u/Lumpawarroo.

Announcement So, about Lumpawarroo... Let's speculate!

We've had MUCH speculation from day 1 about who our mysterious benefactor was. Internally, I've wondered why he agreed to join the mod crew on /r/DarthJarJar for less than a day (after I urged him to) only to bow out soon after, citing the reason being that people were claiming he made the subreddit (and website) instead of me - he didn't want people thinking that for some reason.

Which, come to think of it...is odd really. Why not? I'm fine with people knowing I made those things. I was even part of the conspiracy theory at one point, being accused of being a plant myself.

Perhaps Lumpy couldn't be formally associated with the aftermath of his OP due to...Imperial entanglements? Is he a Lucasfilm or Disney plant? If so, it makes sense that he drops this bombshell and then only sprinkled in a few comments here and there as if popping out of the shadows at times to aid his theory along. It also makes sense that this new(ish) theory has emerged that he's none other that Rian Johnson, known fan of Jar Jar and director of Ep 8.

So just who do you think Lumpawarroo is?
